Randolph School Board Changes Time Of Tuesday’s Meeting

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Central School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 30, at 6 p.m. in the high school library to adopt the contingency budget. The public is welcome to attend.

Mobile Pantry Truck To Visit Ashville UMC Today

ASHVILLE – The Food Bank of WNY’s Mobile Pantry Truck will be at the Ashville United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. today. To receive food, proof of address showing the recipient lives in one of the following ZIP codes is required: Ashville 14710, Bemus Point 14712, Celoron 14720, Greenhurst 14742, Lakewood 14750, Maple Springs 14756, Niobe 14758, Panama 14767, Stow 14785 and the town of Busti. Those attending must fill out a TEFAP and bring their own bags or boxes.

Fenton History Center To Host Author Thursday

The Fenton History Center invites all to attend a meet the author event at the Fenton Mansion on Thursday, June 25, at 7 p.m. Former area resident Dr. Edward T. Davis III will be speaking about his recent works which will be published by the Fenton History Center. They are a two-volume set entitled “The Early Years of Boating on Chautauqua Lake” which contains almost 600 pages of text, mostly consisting of newspaper articles dating from 1826 – 1888, the majority of which are from the Jamestown Journal, Jamestown Daily Journal and Jamestown Evening Journal. Accompanying the articles are 280 photographs/advertisements supplied by the Fenton History Center, the Chautauqua County Historical Society, the Chautauqua Institution Archives, the Davis collection of stereoviews of the Chautauqua Lake region dating from the 1870s – 1880s and several private collectors. The second publication is “Life in a Chautauqua Lake Resort Community: The Early Years of Point Chautauqua, New York” tells the story of the evolution of Point Chautauqua from a Baptist colony in 1875, through the years of the Grand Hotel and ending in 1930, as it settled into a quiet summer and year-round community using period newspaper articles. It consists of 320 pages with 250 photographs. Copies of the books may be ordered at the event.

Reg Lenna To Screen Film Wednesday

The Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will show the film, The Devil Wears Prada 2, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24. Almost 20 years after The Devil Wears Prada was released, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to New York City and the offices of Runway Magazine in the sequel to the 2006 film. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is rated PG-13 and is 119 minutes long. Upcoming Movies at The Reg include a 30th anniversary showing of Christopher Guest’s mockumentary comedy Waiting for Guffman (July 1 at 7 p.m.), Leo Woodall and Dustin Hoffman in the caper thriller Tuner (July 15 at 7 p.m.) and Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve in the hit psychological horror film Backrooms (July 17 at 7 p.m.). Tickets for most Movies at The Reg are $8 in-person at the box office and $10 online (reglenna.com) and by phone at 716-484-7070. Family showings are $7 in-person at the box office and $9 online and by phone. Special engagements are priced differently. The theater and box office at The Reg are located at 116 E. Third St., Jamestown. The box office is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. and one hour before movies and events.

Prendergast Library To Host Fire Truck Story Time Wednesday

The James Prendergast Library will host fire truck story time with the Jamestown Fire Department at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, kicking off the library’s outdoor story times. After the story time there will be a time for outdoor play. Cassadaga Library To Host Piano Duo June 24

CASSADAGA – Danica DeLois Olson and Andrew Schmidt of the Dandy Duo will host an afternoon of music, memory and community on the piano from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the Seymour Cassadaga Branch, 18 Maple Ave., Cassadaga. The event is family friendly with no charge to attend.
