Jamestown School Board To Hold Special Meeting Thursday
The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday in the boardroom of the administration building, 197 Martin Road, to consider a capital improvement construction change for a sanitary sewer line at Jamestown High School. The public is welcome to attend.
Mayville Seniors To Meet Thursday
MAYVILLE – The Mayville Seniors will meet on Thursday, July 16, at the VFW in Mayville. The meeting begins at noon with a hot dog and ice cream sundae luncheon provided by the club; members are also asked to bring a dish to pass. The guest speaker will be Greg Birnir from Westfield Academy and Central School, who will give a presentation on the Constitution and government. All are welcome to attend.
Los Contrincantes Car Club To Host Car Show Saturday
GERRY – The Los Contrincantes Car Club will hold its Los Contrincantes Are Back Car show from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Gerry Rodeo Grounds in Gerry with more than 150 awards to give out and cash prizes. The family-oriented event will include an electrical power wheel race for children and a pizza eating contest. Registration takes place the day of the event.
Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday In Irvine, Pa.
On Sunday, July 19, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will take part in a 2-3-mile easy hike at Anders Run and the Irvine-Newbold Estate on Dunns Edey Road in Irvine. The group will meet at 2 p.m. at the Anders Run Trailhead. Those attending should wear appropriate closed toe shoes and bring bug/tick spray. Linda Ross is the leader of this activity.
Quilts Of Valor Group To Meet Friday
LAKEWOOD – The Chautauqua Region Quilts of Valor will meet Friday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Quilters’ Haven and Yarn Shop. Several presentations and activities will be discussed. A presentation will be made Saturday, July 18, in Brocton and following that members will be setting up a display at the Chautauqua County Fair in the 4-H sewing booth area. Volunteers for all these activities are needed as well as for a possible presentation at the 4-H fashion show and for the breakdown of the group’s display at the fair. Also to be discussed is a presentation in August. New members and visitors are welcome. Quilters’ Haven and Yarn Shop is located at 135 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, in the Jamestown Mattress Plaza.
Rabies Clinic To Be Held July 16
The Chautauqua County Health Department will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic with the town of Poland from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Poland Highway Department building, 533 Grubb Hill Road, Kennedy. Animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. Pre-registration is required and should be submitted online by visiting HealthyCHQ.com/Rabies and view the calendar for upcoming clinics. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Those who register but decide not to attend the event are asked to cancel their appointment so the spot is available for another pet. Appointments can be canceled via the confirmation email received after registering. Pet owners must bring previous rabies vaccination records for each animal receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination; clinic staff will confirm previous rabies vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash. All cats and ferrets must be in individual carriers. Animal handlers will transport animals to the veterinarian for vaccination.
County Health Board To Meet July 16
MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold its bi-monthly meeting on Thursday, July 16, at 6 p.m. in the Hall R. Clothier Building, Fourth Floor Conference Room, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville. Comments received from the public will be accepted as communications, and not read during privilege of the floor. Public comments at the meetings during the privilege of the floor must be made in person. Members of the public may view the meeting live via the Chautauqua County Health Department’s YouTube channel.
