County Bridge 879 To Close
SHERMAN — County Bridge 879 on Route 4 in the town of Sherman, between Routes 15 and 76, will be closed to all traffic effective today. The closure is for replacement of the bridge. A detour will be posted, and the closure will remain in effect until the bridge replacement is complete and the barricades and signs are removed.
Sherman Town Board To Meet
SHERMAN — The July meeting of the Sherman Town Board will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Sherman Village Board will meet on Wednesday, July 14.
Zoning Board Cancels Meeting
A public hearing by the Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals that had been scheduled for today at 5 p.m. in council chambers has been canceled.
Concert To Be Held In Lily Dale
The sounds of American jazz will fill the Lily Dale Auditorium on Saturday. Carl Hultman and his Jazz Friends from Erie, Pa., are set to perform on the historic stage from 8-10 p.m. Hultman has been a prominent musician on the Erie jazz scene for 40 years, playing a range of styles from bebop to cool jazz. His jazz partner, Barb Swartz, has perfect pitch for vocals and harmonies. They will be joined by Dave Callagan, one of Erie’s most popular tenor sax players. Hultman and Friends will play in the stately Lily Dale Auditorium built in 1883. The auditorium has been a venue for lectures and musical performances for 148 years. The seating capacity is 1,200. Tickets for the concert are $10 at the door.
Fredonia History Days Are Set For Friday, Saturday
FREDONIA — Festivals Fredonia will hold its next festival, Fredonia History Days, on Friday and Saturday at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds. Festivals Fredonia had to move operations from downtown Fredonia due to the construction project beginning soon in Barker Commons. On Friday is the annual Classic Car and Bike show from 5-8 p.m. with music by the Buffalo based rockabilly band “V-Syx.” There is no admission fee for the classic car and bike show, but a 50/50 giveaway will take place during the event. On Saturday, Fredonia’s Michael Gerholdt performs from 11 a.m. to noon with his repertoire of early acoustic blues to folk-rock-pop and originals. Then on Saturday at 1 p.m. there will be an appearance of Sean Patrick McGraw, Nashville recording artist and Dunkirk native. Finally, from 3:30 until 6 p.m. the F.O.M.R Band from Buffalo will be playing two sets of classic rock hits.
Busti Gazebo Concert To Be Held Saturday
BUSTI — The band Happy Days will perform at the concert in the Gazebo in Busti Saturday. The sounds of 50s, 60s and 70s will be performed by Gabriel (Ross) Giuffre on the keyboard and Mary Giuffre on the drums. The Giuffres reside in Jamestown area from April until the fall then they are residents of Florida where they entertain during the winter months. New hours for the concert are 6:30-8:30 p.m. People are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. The concert is sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association.
