1962-2026

Daniel E. Hanson, 63, of Mayville, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1962, in Westfield, NY.

Dan had attended Chautauqua Elementary School before moving to Florida. For many years he delivered the Post Journal. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to Rock & Roll music.

He is survived by his siblings, Ronald (Marlene) Olson, Jeffrey (Dolores) Olson, Zoe Ritchie and Eric Hanson. Although he had no children of his own, he was a devoted uncle to Scott (Trisha) Olson, Chris (Kelly) Olson, Shana (Ezra) Weise, Tim (Heather) Olson, Harmony (Neil Bergin) Ritchie, David (Jennifer) Hanson, Jim Hanson, Taylor Ritchie, Ethan Hanson, Dana Hanson, several great-nieces and nephews, and his dog, Brewster.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and Franklin Hanson and Glenn Olson, brothers Jerry Olson and David Hanson, step-sisters, Teri and Tammy Newhouse, as well as his beloved dog, Budz.

At Daniel’s request, there will be no public services held. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
