Kiantone Church To Hold Open House For Member Saturday
KIANTONE – There will be an open house in honor of June Stoddard’s 90th birthday Saturday, June 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Kiantone Congregational Church, 646 Kiantone Road, Jamestown. Organizers ask for no gifts, please.
Smith Family To Host Motorcycle Gathering Saturday
BUSTI – The Smith family will host a motorcycle gathering on Saturday, June 20, at the Busti Men’s Association on Nutt Road in Busti from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations of $10 or a new unwrapped toy are encouraged.
TEA Party To Meet June 23
Sheriff Jim Quattrone and Bob Bankoski will be featured speakers on Tuesday, June 23, at the next meeting of the Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots at 1309 Norby Road, Busti. Quattrone will discuss consolidation of law enforcement in the county and municipalities. Bankoski, a Chautauqua County legislator, will discuss county-related issues including taxation, green energy and Medicaid. Audience participation is encouraged. There will also be an update on the July 4 Mayville parade and the TEA Party float.
Book Launch, Signing Is June 20 At Prendergast Library
The James Prendergast Library will host a book launch and signing event for books “If I were a Porcupine” and “If I were a Skunk” by author Rebekah Sorenson, on June 20 from 1 to 2:45 p.m. in the Fireplace Room. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the author, learn about the newly released book, and have copies signed during the event. The program is open to the public.
SWCS Class Of 1966 To Tour High School In July
The Southwestern Central High School Class of 1966 will tour the Hunt Road facility July 15 prior to holding its 60th anniversary reunion in the evening. After the tour the classmates will gather at Shawbucks for cocktails and dinner. Call Mike Coon at 225-202-1475 for more information.
“988 Be the Hero” Scholarships Awarded
The winners of the “988 Be the Hero” scholarship include residents of Chautauqua County who are pursuing a degree in the medical or mental health field. Katherine Fitzgerald has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship to continue her coursework for clinical mental health counseling. Fitzgerald is currently the school counselor at Brocton Central School. Upon graduation she plans to remain in Chautauqua County as a clinical mental health counselor. Additional $500 scholarships were awarded to Makartnee Mortimer of Westfield, Hailey Ehmke of Brocton, Abigail White of Clymer and Laken Raynor of Bemus Point. The “988 Be the Hero” scholarship has given away more than $18,000 over six years to deserving students. Any Chautauqua County resident who is pursuing a degree in the medical or mental health field, regardless of age, is encouraged to apply.
