Paving Work

Set For Today

East Second Street from North Main Street to Prendergast Avenue is scheduled for paving today. Traffic will close from 6:30-11 a.m. with the street down to one lane the rest of the day. Motorists will experience delays when travelling through the area and may wish to use alternate routes of travel.

Ellington Picnic Set For Sunday

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Community Church will host its neighborhood appreciation picnic at noon Sunday. There will be a free picnic lunch, games and fellowship. The church will hold its worship service at 10 a.m. In case of rain, the picnic will be postponed until July 30. For more information, call Lucille at 962-5841.

Church Presents John Wesley

The Conewango Valley United Methodist Church, 5517 Church St., Conewango Valley, presents John Wesley, the founder of the Wesleyan and Methodist Churches, played by Tom Place, on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. “Learn about the life of a Circuit Rider!” All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.

Fellowship Social Set For Saturday

GERRY — The Gerry United Methodist Church will host a fellowship social from 5-7 p.m. Saturday. Hot dogs, ice cream sundaes, strawberry shortcake and beverages will be sold to raise money for the church’s roof fund.

Test Drive Event Set For Saturday

RANDOLPH — In partnership with Ed Shults of Jamestown, the Randolph Area Community Development Corporation (RACDC) will host a “Drive 4 UR Community” test drive event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community fundraiser will take place at the Randolph United Presbyterian Church at 186 Main St. Ed Shults will have several different vehicles to choose from for licensed drivers ages 18 and up to test drive downtown. For every test driver who participates, Shults will make a donation to the RACDC. All proceeds will go toward the Lions Club project to purchase playground equipment for Weeden Park. Free lunch and drinks will be available to participants. The Presbyterian Church will be having a bake sale during the test drive event.

City Bandshell

Series Continues

The Jamestown Summer Bandshell Concert series will feature the Jamestown Municipal Band as directed by Rick Lundquist at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Goranson Bandshell in Allen Park. This week’s concert theme is “Christmas In July” and is a children’s concert. Members of the Allen Park Women’s Club will provide coffee, fudge and other baked goods during all of the concerts. All concerts are free to the public.

South Dayton Music Planned

SOUTH DAYTON — Music on the South Dayton Village Square will be by the Rustic Ramblers from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Those attending should bring lawn chairs. Hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream will be available for purchase.

City Seniors To Meet For Cookies

Jamestown Senior Center members will meet for coffee and cookies on July 25 at 1 p.m. A program will be presented by the “Happy Grams.”
