St. Luke’s Thrift Shop Open Saturday

St. Luke/s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. All departments are well stocked with clothing for all and small household items. There is a large selection of very ladies plus-sized clothing available for half price for a limited time. All ladies pants and jeans are $1 and there is a selection of ladies shoes. Regular shopping hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. All proceeds are used locally.

Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike on the North Country Trail, starting at the trailhead off Mayburg Road. Everyone should meet at Hearts Content at 1:30 p.m. The hike will be a 4-mile hike in total over an easy grade.

Lutes To Speak At Library Author Series Monday

BUSTI – The second in the author series at Hazeltine Public Library is set for Monday at 6:30 p.m. Trenton Lutes, a resident of Westfield, will talk about his sci-fi series, The Terra-Healers. Many will recognize his name as being most often associated with painting, photography, gardener and bonsai enthusiast; author is new to his list of accomplishments. He is a graduate of Hartwick College in Oneonta and enjoys all his hobbies, working on the third book of his series and reading as much science fiction as possible. The author series are Free and open to the public. Reservations are appreciated and can be made by visiting the library at 891 Busti Sugar Grove Road or calling the library at 716-487-1281. The series continues May 13 with writing coach Kathy Carlton Willis.

Randolph School Board To Meet May 14

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Central School Board of Education will hold a public budget hearing on Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. in the high school library. The hearing will be followed by a regular board meeting. The public is welcome to attend. Those who wish to attend are asked to contact Maureen Pitts, district clerk, at 358-7005.

Libraries To Hold Meetings On Funding Increase Request

The Hazeltine Public Library and Lakewood Memorial Library will host library funding vote information sessions on Thursday, May 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. at each library. Funding was initially approved by Southwestern Central School District voters in 2018 and has remained the same amount since that time. The libraries are seeking an increase this year, allowing them to keep pace with inflation and minimum wage increases. Details and a cost calculator are available on each library’s website. The information sessions are intended to answer questions related to the upcoming May 21 vote.
