JAMESTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT — A garage fire at 63 W. 14th St., which officials believe was intentionally set, caused damage Friday in the city of Jamestown. Firefighters were dispatched to the area of West Fourteenth and Washington streets around 6 a.m. Upon arrival, they found smoke pushing from eaves of single story two-car garage and encountered heavy smoke, but very little fire. Overhead doors were opened to ventilate and an item of funiture was found burned inside with fire, heat, and smoke damage throughout. JAMESTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT Jamestown Fire Department quickly brought a detached garage blaze under control after it was called to the scene around 1 p.m. Thursday. Crews responded to 21 Euclid Ave. and upon arrival, members encountered a structure with flames showing from the roof, located approximately 50 feet from the nearest residence. Fire crews had the blaze under control within 10 minutes, and fully extinguished within 30 minutes. Jamestown Police Department — Austin J. Muntz, 27, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, an active bench warrant for endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. Officers with the Jamestown Police Department, Third Platoon, initiated a traffic stop Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. of a red jeep which was observed allegedly committing traffic infractions on Fulton Street. JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT - A Jamestown man is facing charges after allegedly leaving his child unattended on Monday. Jatwon D. Scott, 28, is facing a charge of endangering the welfare of a child after police officers respond to Prather Avenue for a report of a lost child at 1:52 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a four-year old child who had reportedly been wandering the street and could not tell officers his name or address. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY COURT Todd Dalton, 39, of Jamestown, was sentenced Monday by Judge David Foley to four years in state prison with two years of post-release supervision after being convicted of fourth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony. In March 2023, the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop and located suspected methamphetamine on Dalton. He pleaded guilty to the charge in January. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — HANOVER — At around 6:49 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a report of an altercation between two people at a residence on Allegany Road. After a brief investigation it was determined that Tanner Moquin, 28, of Silver Creek, did subject another individual to physical contact, damage property in the residence, and tamper with property of another person.
