Salamanca School Board To Hold Retreat Nov. 9

SALAMANCA — The Salamanca City Central School Board will hold a retreat on Tuesday, Nov. 9. The retreat will be for the purpose of school board and administrative discussion regarding district finance, facilities, board of education development and board of education roundtable discussion. There will be a dinner at 5 p.m. followed by the retreat that will begin at 5:30 p.m. No action will be taken that evening. The retreat will be held in the high school large group instruction room.

City Rabies Clinic Is Nov. 6 At Taylor Training Grounds

A free rabies vaccination clinic will be held at the Taylor Training Grounds, 240 Harrison St., Jamestown, on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon. Facemasks are required for all attending the clinic. Each animal must be pre-registered to receive a vaccination; animals can be pre-registered the day of the clinic. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets 3 months of age and older. To register, call the Jamestown City Clerk’s office at 483-7613. For any questions, call the clerk’s office or call the Chautauqua County Department of Health at 753-4567. Rabies is a very serious disease of warm-blooded animals caused by a virus. Raccoons, bats, skunks, and foxes are common disease carriers. The virus is transmitted to humans and animals through saliva and it can enter the body from a bite, scratch, scrape or open cut. The rabies virus infects the central nervous system and can cause brain swelling and ultimately death within days of the onset of symptoms.

Fluvanna Church To Hold Trunk-Or-Treat Saturday

FLUVANNA — Trunk or Treat will be held at the Fluvanna Community Church parking lot on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 4-5:30 p.m.

CVCS Board To Meet Thursday

SINCLAIRVILLE — Members of the Cassadaga Valley Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the middle-high school multipurpose room. The public is welcome to attend.

Cub Scout Pack 123 Slates Trunk-Or-Treat Sunday

Cub Scout Pack 123 will hold a Trunk or Treat event from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at 405 N. Main St., Jamestown, in the parking lot behind the YWCA.

Valley Historical Society To Meet Nov. 2

The November meeting of the Valley Historical Society will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in the lower room of the Sinclairville Fire Hall. Voting will be taking place in the upper dining room, so enter through the front door of the lower room so the voters will not be disturbed. The program will be presented by personal historian Pat Pihl. Along with Pihl, Sharon Howe Sweeting, Cherry Creek historian, will be assisting. The program is adult show and tell. Pihl and Sweeting will bring several historical items to “show and tell” and everyone in attendance is invited to bring a historical item to show and tell themselves. Anyone interested in local history is invited to attend.
