Fenton History Center To Host Lecture Today
The Fenton History Center hosts County Historian Norman Carlson on Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. Carlson will discuss George Washington’s ties to Chautauqua County from his 1753 journey within 15 miles of the area, including Chautauqua Lake in transportation plans, and meeting Cornplanter in an official capacity. Additional facts and stories will be shared. The Fenton History Center lecture series is held on the third Tuesday of the month, April through October. The May lecture, the “50th Anniversary of the King of Sweden’s Visit to Jamestown,” presented by Fenton Executive Director Joni Blackman, will be on May 19. Admission is free, donations are accepted. Golden Agers To Meet Today In Lakewood
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Lakewood American Legion Post 1286. This meeting is the spring luncheon, provided by the post. The May monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 19, and the guest speaker at that meeting will be Mathea Rose, who will be educating the group on the subject of estate planning including wills and trusts. Any individuals interested in membership with the Golden Agers and has reached the age of 55 is welcome to attend a meeting.
County Parks Commission To Meet Thursday
The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, in the Chautauqua County Airport in the conference room.
Cassadaga Valley School Board To Meet Today
SINCLAIRVILLE – A budget workshop for the Board of Education of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District will be held today, April 21, at 5 p.m. in the Middle High School Multi-Purpose Room and via Zoom. A special meeting will be held immediately following the budget workshop, tentatively starting around 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
Sewer District Board To Meet Wednesday
The North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22,. at the wastewater plant located at 50 Clark St., Mayville. The meeting is open to the public.
Watts Flats UMC To Host Dinner Wednesday
WATTS FLATS – Watts Flats United Methodist Church, 866 Blockville-Watts Flats Road, will host a spaghetti dinner with desserts on Wednesday, April 22, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The dinner will cost $10 with all proceeds to benefit the church.
Five-Hour Pre-Licensing Course Slated
FREWSBURG – A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be offered at Frewsburg High School on Monday, May 11, from 5 to 10 p.m. The cost is $30. Pre-register by emailing rhair@frewsburgcsd.org – include a picture of the student’s permit, or by calling 716-569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling, make sure to have the student’s permit on hand.
