I-86 Bridge To Be Closed Overnight

The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 eastbound over Chautauqua Lake, between North Harmony and Ellery, will be closed from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday, April 17, to facilitate an ongoing rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing Route 394 and Route 430.

Vegetarian Society To Meet Sunday In Jamestown

The April meeting of the Chautauqua Vegetarian Society will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 19, in Jamestown at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on McDaniel Street. The guest speaker will be Vegan cookbook author Terri Groh. Groh began a plant-based whole food journey back in 2023 after a health scare and lost 73 pounds within a year by eating a vegan, sugar and oil-free diet. She has written a cookbook, Simple & Nutritious: 52 Plant-based, Whole Food Recipes. She has a website, The Frugal Connection, as well as a YouTube channel of the same name where she shows how a plant-based, whole food diet can be delicious and affordable. Groh is consecrated and ordained with the Christian & Missionary Alliance, serving alongside her husband at Jamestown C&MA Church. She is also publisher of seven books, as well as a public speaker speaking at different churches, retreats, and conferences. The meal will be vegan potluck. Those attending should bring a vegan dish with no meat, dairy or egg ingredients to share. The cost is $2 for those bringing a dish or $6 without a dish. Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday In Tidioute

On Sunday, April 19, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike the Tidioute Riverside Rec Trek Trail. The hike is a flat trail with two waterfalls and a viewing for an eagle’s nest. This is an out and back hike of 4 miles or less. The group will meet at Musante Street in Warren at 1:30 p.m. or at the trailhead in Tidioute by the sewage treatment plant on Route 127 at 2 p.m. Peter To is the leader for the activity.

Bemus Point School Board To Meet Monday

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 20, in the Maple Grove High School cafeteria, 3980 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. There will be a public information session regarding the Capital Improvement Project 2026, from 5:45 to 6 p.m. An executive session is anticipated following the regular meeting. The public is welcome.
