Judged Trail Ride Set For Saturday

FALCONER — This weekend will be a busy one for Chautauqua County Trail Rider’s Club, located at 3560 Gerry-Levant Road in Falconer. On Saturday, the group will hold its Judged Trail Ride which is riders and their horses going over obstacles to show their partnership. Spectators are welcome. On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the club will hold a meet-and-greet that is free to the public that will introduce people to some of the local equine services in the area as well as to club facilities. High Speed Chase Stopped At State Border

A trooper with the New York State Police terminated a pursuit Wednesday that reportedly reached speeds well in excess of 100 mph. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding around 4:45 p.m. A pursuit went through the towns of Sherman and Mina before it was terminated at the Pennsylvania state line. The vehicle involved was a 2021 Honda HRV, Capt. Eric Balon of the New York State Police said. “The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding,” Balon said. “Obviously it didn’t stop. The trooper terminated the pursuit when they approached the state line at a high rate of speed.”

School Board To Convene Monday

PANAMA — Members of the Panama Central School Board will gather for a scheduled reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room. The meeting is open to the public.

Salamanca School Board To Meet July 13

SALAMANCA — Members of the Salamanca City Central School Board will hold a reorganizational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, in the large group instruction room for the board and superintendent. The meeting will be held via ZOOM for administrators and staff. The public can access it via Facebook Live.

Fluvanna Library Sets Book Sale

It’s book sale season at the Fluvanna Free Library, 3532 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, and staff have been busy moving, organizing and getting the sale ready to open this morning. The book sale runs from today through Sunday. This year the sale, ranging from 25 cents to $2, offers a wide selection of books and other materials. The library will have a daily hot dog lunch offered for a small price that includes a hot dog, chips and beverage for $4. Today, visitors can also take advantage of the library bake sale. The hours for the sale are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday noon-3 p.m. Sunday is the bag sale. Note that the library does not have scheduled open hours throughout the book sale days.

Summer Band Concert Set

FALCONER — The Falconer Public Library has released its Summer Band Concert schedule for Thursday nights in July. Pat Cook will perform a Tribute to the Women of Country on July 15; Robin Grandin, Rockin’ Robin will play July 22; and Ralph Rasmusson and Pearl City Jazz will end the season on July 29. The free concerts will be held in Davis Park, across the street from the library from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Those who attend should bring a chair or blanket to sit on and join for an evening of enjoyable music.

If there is inclement weather, the Falconer Fire Department has offered the use of their truck bay.
