Fenton History Center To Host Summer Walking Tours
The Fenton History Center will once again present historic walking tours of Jamestown beginning June 6 through August 29. The tours all start at 10 a.m., most starting at the Gov. Reuben E. Fenton Mansion. The cost is $8 for members and $12 for non-members. Participants can pre-register online, in person at the Fenton, or by phone at 716-664-6256. There is a limit of 20 people for each tour. Sponsors are Rodgers Land Surveying, Ahlstrom Schaeffer, and Weber Knapp For the first time, history tour buffs can purchase a Full Circuit History Pass, which provides individual access to all Fenton Historic Walking Tours throughout the 2026 season. Each pass is valid for one person. The cost is $50 for members (regularly $56) and $80 (regularly $84) for non-members. The first tour is about the iconic homes along Lakeview Avenue led by Cindy Rodgers, longtime Fenton member and former board member. The tour begins at the Christ First United Methodist Church parking lot on Buffalo Street at 10 a.m. June 6. Tours throughout the summer are Allen Park, Jamestown’s Hidden Alleys, Jamestown’s Industrial Past, a military tour of Lake View Cemetery, Lucy’s Downtown, Churches tour, and the Ladies of Lake View Cemetery. First Lutheran Begins Summer Worship Schedule June 7
First Lutheran Church’s summer worship schedule begins Sunday, June 7. The contemporary worship will meet in the worship center at 9 a.m. led by the Sacred Fire Team with Kimberly King, worship leader and coordinator of contemporary worship. The traditional worship service will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the church nave. The choir will sing Praise My Soul, the King of Heaven by Mark Andrews, directed by Brian A. Bogey, organist/choirmaster. The Rev. Allie Leizel will be the guest preacher and celebrant for communion at both worship services. The public is welcome to attend.
Audubon To Hold First Sunday Story Time June 7
The Audubon Community Nature Center’s next First Sunday Story Time for 2- to 8-year-old children and their adults is June 7. Doors open at 12:20 p.m. for the 12:30 to 1 p.m. event. The building is fully open at 1 p.m. The program and building admission are both free. Those attending can stay after story time to explore the indoor Nature Play Area, live animals, and exhibits as well as go outside to observe the birds of prey, walk the trails, and play in the outdoor Nature Play Area. Frewsburg School Board To Appoint Superintendent Wednesday
FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, June 3, at 6 p.m. in middle-high school library to appoint a new schools superintendent. The public is welcome to attend this event, especially members of the stakeholder teams who were part of the selection process who want to meet the incoming superintendent.
I-86 Bridge Closures Announced
The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Chautauqua Lake between North Harmony and Ellery in Chautauqua County will have closures this week. The first starts at 11 p.m. tonight, June 2, and ends Friday morning, June 5. The closure affects the eastbound side of the bridge and is from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday night through Friday morning. The bridge will also be closed in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday, June 5, through 9 a.m. Saturday, June 6. Detours are posted on Route 394 and Route 430.
