Funding To Aid

In Virus Testing

U.S. Rep. Tom Reed has helped secure $1,031,067 in grants for expanding coronavirus testing capacity for areas across the 23rd Congressional District. Funding will be awarded to The Chautauqua Center in the amount of $246,229; $252,604 for the Southern Tier Community Health Network; and $532,234 for Finger Lakes Migrant Health Care. Funds will be disbursed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. “We care about making sure our communities have the resources they need to combat the Coronavirus and facilitate the safe reopening of the region,” said Tom. “Additional testing capacity is one important tool that our district must have fair access to. We will continue to secure these resources for the community as we continue our right against Coronavirus and find safe ways to move forward together.” Testing capacity has recently increased across the area, thanks in part to a recent commitment from Quest Diagnostics. Tom, regional officials, and local health providers all coordinated with Quest to craft a solution that greatly expanded testing capacity across the region. The boosted testing capacity now more than exceeds Governor Cuomo’s criteria for re-opening the state.
