Benefit Dinner Planned Dec. 1

A spaghetti dinner benefit for Ashley Snyder in her fight against cancer will be held Sunday, Dec. 1, from noon-6 p.m. at the Celoron Legion, 25 Jackson Ave., Jamestown. Pre-sale tickets for the benefit are $9 for adults and $4 for children over 3. Tickets for the day of the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children 3 and over. The benefit will include food, Chinese auction and basket giveaways. For more information, call Carrie at 397-4805.

Funding To Pay For Snow Plow

RIPLEY — U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, said a loan of $150,000 and a grant of $50,000 has been secured for the town of Ripley. The funds will be used to purchase a new snow plow truck for the town that will help maintain the 88 lane-miles of road in Ripley during the winter. The grant was announced by USDA Rural Development. “This is the first time the town has applied for a USDA Rural Development Grant to replace highway equipment,” said Douglas Bowen, Ripley town supervisor. “This plow truck will allow us to keep costs down for taxpayers and will also allow us to keep up with replacing our older equipment.”

Leaf Pick Up Ends Tuesday

FALCONER — Final leaf pickup in the village of Falconer will be Tuesday. Residents within the village are asked to have all leaves to the curb by Monday.

Proceeds To Benefit Outreach

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., Jamestown, will be open Black Friday (Nov. 29) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Small Business Saturday (Nov. 30) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ladies sweaters and fleece, and children’s toys will be marked down. On Saturday, there will be a pop-up artisan market featuring hand crafted products from Ten Thousand Villages. Those items will be 20% off the retail price. A portion of the proceeds benefit St. Luke’s local community outreach. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street.

BPU Announces Holiday Hours

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Solid Waste customers whose garbage is normally collected on Thursday mornings should place their trash and recyclables at the curb after 6 p.m. Thanksgiving evening for pick-up on Friday morning, Nov. 29. Friday customers should place garbage and recyclables at the curb after 6 p.m. Friday for collection on Saturday morning, Nov. 30. Metal is the recyclable for the week of Nov. 25-30. BPU Customer Service will re-open for business at 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. Customers who need to pay bills after-hours are reminded that they may pay online at jamestownbpu.com or by phone at 661-1660, ext. 3, 24 hours a day, using credit cards, debit cards or e-checks. Customers also may leave check payments only in drop-off boxes located at the top of the BPU’s “D” driveway, 92 Steele St.; outside the city Municipal Building on Tracy Plaza; and outside the Town of Ellicott Building on Work Street at any time.
