Thrift Shop Sets Holiday Special

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., Jamestown, is having a Labor Day special. Ladies tops are half-price, all merchandise in the children’s room is half-price, men’s slacks are $1 and ties are buy one, get one free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday or Friday. Donations are accepted Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon or during regular business hours. Those with large donations should call ahead at 664-1887. Off-street parking is available in the church parking lot off East Fifth Street. The all-volunteer staff include many from RSVP. All proceeds are used locally.

Bailey Hill Road To Be Closed

SHERMAN — Bailey Hill Road in the town of Sherman, over County Bridge 983 between County Route 15 and 11, will be closed to all traffic effective Tuesday. A detour will be posted utilizing Matteson and Kidder roads.

Cribbage Club To Meet Sept. 5

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Farman Library is starting a cribbage club that will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays starting Sept. 5. The Ellington Farman Library is located on 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. For more information, call 287-2945.

History Fair Parade Is Set

SINCLAIRVILLE — The village of Sinclairville is looking for individuals and groups to march in the Sinclairville History Fair parade on Sept. 14. Parade organizers welcome any type of entry. Parade line up is at the Sinclairville Elementary School on Sinclair Drive between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The parade begins at 10 a.m. To register, call 962-3253 and leave a message.

Hockey Game To Be Held Sept. 6

Community Through Hockey will host its fifth Community Hockey Game at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. The game will benefit 21-month old Luca Carlson from Falconer who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, or an undeveloped heart. Admission is free and will feature a basket giveaway, large item giveaway and 50/50 giveaway. Since 2015, the organization has raised more than $22,000 for area families and organizations. Historical Society Meets Sept. 11

The Leon Historical Society will visit the Seneca/Iroquois Museum Onohsawgwede Cultural Center in Salamanca on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The group will meet at 10 at the Leon Church to carpool. The tour at the museum will last 60 to 90 minutes followed by cultural programming planned specifically for members. The cost is $9.50 for adults and $6 for seniors. Ethics Board To Meet Sept. 10

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Ethics Board will meet Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. in Room 149 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville. Current members of the board are Susan Dilks, John Lloyd, David Rowe, Rose Sebouhian and Mary Kay Szwejbka. The public is welcome to attend.
