Legion To Host Ramblers Today

The Lakewood Legion Post 1286 will be hosting The Rustic Ramblers today from 7:30-11:30 p.m. Chef Jack Tibbets will be preparing prime rib, broiled or fried fish dinner, and seafood bisque. Dinner hours are from 5-9 p.m. All members and guests are welcome.

Ellery Seniors Met At Church

Ellery Senior Citizens met recently at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Those serving on the kitchen committeeswere Lois and Gene Norris and Marty Hunt, president, who also led the flag salute and conducted the business meeting. Ola Olsonled devotions, speaking about Christmas and Jesus’ birth. December birthdays celebrated were Cherrie Clark, Kay and Elaine Crossley and Carolyn Wickerham. January birthdays were Gene Norris, Jeanne Rhinehart and Josie Cantalli. Chautauqua Shores Chorus, noteworthy and Harmony Gals quartets presenteda program of familiar Christmas music, barbershop-style,to brighten the season. The next meeting will be today at the church. Members are to bring a dish to pass and table service. The program will be about Hospice and Palliative Care.

Driving Course Planned March 11

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School, 26 Institute St., Frewsburg, on Monday, March 11, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling, please make sure you have your permit on hand.

School To Offer Sailing Class

Southwestern Central School, in cooperation with the Chautauqua Lake Community Sailing Foundation, will be offering a new six-week introduction to sailing class as a physical education course option this semester. The program will include the fundamentals of sailing principals, parts of the boat, rigging, water safety, physical training and endurance training. The course option will be offered to students starting in late March and continue to mid-May. The class option will be open to all students. The Chautauqua Lake Community Sailing Foundation is providing full scholarship funding of this program by donating boats, instructional material, equipment and staff at no charge to the school or its student participants.

Society To Host Local Author

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Historical Society welcomes author Fletcher “Ned” Ward on Wednesday. Ned will talk about his most recent book, “The Last Raft.” The book chronicles the “logging of the Lake Chautauqua watershed.” The event will be held at the Bemus Point Historical Society Museum on Alburtus Avenue in Bemus Point. Cassadaga Board Meeting Monday

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Valley School Board will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. A budget work session will take place prior to the school board meeting. The public is welcome to attend.
