To Close Monday

Jeffrey Lehman, Jamestown director of public works, announced that Buffalo Street, between Lakeview Avenue and North Main Street, will be closed to through traffic on Monday. Motorists must use alternate routes of travel.

Bemus Point BOE To Meet Monday

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point School Board will meet at the Maple Grove Middle-High School on Dutch Hollow Road on Monday at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

To Meet Tuesday

FORESTVILLE — The County Eastern Star Past Matrons will meet at Forestville Masonic Hall on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Forestville Chapter of Eastern Stars will meet Sept. 18 for a tureen dinner at 6 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Society Of Artists To Meet Tuesday

CELORON — The Chautauqua County Society of Artists will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the Celoron Community Building in Lucille Ball Memorial Park. Those who started a with Ann Jackson and did not complete it at the last meeting can bring it Sept. 11 and Jackson will help finish it. The next meeting will be a “bring a recipe card” and that dish to pass. The society is having set-up for the Lakewood Memorial Library display on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. with an artist reception to follow from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Members who want to bring snack food for the reception should do so. Those who cannot bring a piece to display should contact another member to bring the piece or call Elaine at 763-3156 to arrange a way to display the work. The display will be up at the library throughout September, with artists removing their art on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Quilters Guild To Meet Wednesday

The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet at the Busti Fire Hall on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. The program will be a lecture and trunk show presented by Sue Papalia owner of Zany Creations Quilt Shop. Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.

County Curiosity Lecture Set

ELLINGTON — Vince Martonis, Hanover town historian, will present “Chautauqua County Curiosities” from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ellington Farman Library. The featured collection in the Ellington library’s display case will be Martonis’ personal collection of historical photos from around Chautauqua County. Martonis has been interested in historical photography his whole life and over the course of 40 years has amassed an assortment of photos of the local area. The Ellington Farman Library is located at 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. For more information, call 287-2945 or visit ellingtonlibrary.org. The presentation is for all ages and is free and open to the public.

Citizens Group To Meet Thursday

CASSADAGA — The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga will meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Cassadaga Library. “Light Up Cassadaga” and the Winter Festival will be discussed. All area residents are invited to attend.
