Church to Hold Fall Rummage Sale

RANDOLPH — East Randolph Methodist Church will hold its fall rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15. The sale continues on Saturday, Sept. 16, with a $1 bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon. Donations may be dropped off at the Fellowship Hall from Sept. 12 to 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ellington Library to Host Chicken BBQ

Ellington — Ellington Farman Library will host a take-out chicken barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 4:30-6 p.m. For $15, meals also include a side of potato salad, applesauce, roll and a dessert choice. A half-chicken meal costs $9. Preorder by Sunday, Sept. 17, by calling 716-720-3099. Preorders must be picked up by 6 p.m. on Sept. 23. Payment is expected at time of pickup. The library is located on 760 Thornton Road, Ellington.

Library To Host Local Author

ELLINGTON — On Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 7-8 p.m., Ellington Farman Library will host author Walter Pickut as he speaks about his latest book “The First Counterspy: Larry Haas, Bell Aircraft, and the FBI’s Attempt to Capture a Soviet Mole.” The library is located on 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. Library hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Friday and open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lighthouse Is Topic For Historical Society

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Historical Society will open its 2023-24 speaker series with a special presentation on the Barcelona Lighthouse. Chautauqua County Historical Society President Cristie Herbst and New York State Parks Manager for Chautauqua County, Marla Bingham-Connelly, will present an historical perspective on this local landmark and a synopsis of the current status of the building and future plans for its renovation, maintenance and use. The Bemus Point Historical Society will offer raffles, sales and refreshments and take up a free will offering ­ all of which will be donated to the operation and preservation of this great treasure. This special presentation will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the St. Mary of Lourdes Church Hall at Main Street and Lincoln across from the Bemus Point School bus garage.
