Holy Apostles Parish Choir To Present Special Music Sunday
The Holy Apostles Parish Choir will present special music this Sunday at Saints Peter and Paul Church during their 11 a.m. mass in honor of Memorial Day. Featured songs include The Battle Hymn of the Republic and an arrangement of the Navy Hymn, titled, A Prayer for Our Time. Brass musicians will accompany the choir along with organist Donna Gatz. The choir is under the direction of Anne F Dolce. The public is welcome to attend.
More Than $7.4M In Federal Funding Secured By COI
The federal Department of Health and Human Services has approved $7,428,489 to Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. through the Head Start program to support early childhood education, school readiness, and family support services. Another $357,754 has been appropriated to the Seneca Nation of Indians through the Behavioral Health Integration Initiative to strengthen behavioral health services and improve access to integrated care within the community. “Investing in children, families, and mental health services strengthens communities across Western New York and the Southern Tier,” said U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-23. “Programs like Head Start help ensure young children have the support and educational foundation they need to succeed, while behavioral health initiatives provide critical resources to individuals and families facing mental health and substance use challenges. I’m proud that this money is coming back to our 23rd Congressional District.”
Red Cross Blood Drive Scheduled At Chautauqua Mall
The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. May 28 at the Chautauqua Mall, 318 E Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
BPU Annual Water Quality Report Issued for 2025
The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (BPU) has released its 2025 annual water quality report. The report once again indicates that the BPU provides safe, high-quality water to its customers. The utility is required to prepare this New York State report each year by May to provide consumers with information on the quality and testing of the water delivered by the utility’s water system in the previous year. The report can be found directly on the BPU website at www.jamestownnybpu.gov/Archive.apx?ADID=1254. The report is also available in the BPU Customer Service Office, located at 92 Steele Street.
