Pistol Permit Office Receives Several Inquiries

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Pistol Permit Office has received numerous inquiries regarding social media posts about Pistol Permit re-certifications. Although pistol permits are issued by local county offices, the recertification is required by and through New York state. In 2013, New York state put into effect a re-certification process for pistol permit holders through the New York State Police Pistol Permit Office in Albany. In order to check the status of or to complete the pistol permit re-certification, individuals can either go to a NYSP Police Barracks and pick up the form or they can submit a recertification on line by going to firearms.troopers.ny.gov/pprecert For more information, call 1-855-LAW-GUNS.
