GLPP Adds New Doctor

Great Lakes Physician Practice has added Dr. Jatan Shah to their staff. Shah earned his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine, and did his internal medicine residency at St. Mary’s-Yale Hospital in Waterbury, Conn. He then completed a pulmonary and critical care fellowship along with sleep medicine fellowship, all at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He wants to work with patients to address their pulmonary or sleep disorders and help improve their overall quality of life. Man Aided By Sheriff’s Deputies

MAYVILLE — A 37-year-old man who the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said may have been overdosing on opioids was aided by deputies early Tuesday. In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at 3:53 a.m. to a Mayville residence for a reported overdose victim. “Upon arrival a male subject was located in his residence and appeared to be heavily impaired by an unknown substance,” the department said. “It was suspected that the subject was overdosing on opioids and deputies administered Narcan nasal spray. Chautauqua County EMS arrived on scene shortly after and the male subject was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.”

Car Show To Be Held At Midway

The Der Kobblers Automobile Association with be holding its annual end of summer car show on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6, at Midway State Park. Registration will be from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Dash plagues will be for the first 500 entries. Awards, as voted on by participants, will be awarded at 3 p.m. Anyone with questions is asked to contact Sam Ognibene at 450-0663.

BPU To Hold Water Inspection

A quarterly inspection will be conducted at a 101 Jackson Ave, warehouse beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30. Water in Celoron, Lakewood and areas westward may become discolored and take 12 to 24 hours to clear.

IDA Cancels Monthly Meeting

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency’s Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday was canceled because of a lack of quorum. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. at the BWB Building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown.

Blood Bank Memorial Drive

Community Blood Bank will be holding a memorial blood drive in memory of Charlene Kidder on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 1-6 p.m. The drive will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 40 Hallock St., Jamestown. No appointments are necessary to attend the drive. The blood supply is at less than a day’s supply of blood for local hospitals.

Morning Yoga At Public Library

Area youngsters are invited to Saturday Morning Yoga at the Hazeltine Public Library, 891 Busti Sugar Grove Road, on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. Space is limited, so kids from 2 to 12 are encouraged to call the library at 487-1281 and reserve a spot. A $2 registration fee is suggested. Dena Hirliman will lead the class and then share a yoga story with the group. All materials are provided; participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing. Class will be held rain or shine since the outbuilding at the library will be used. The library will be open for business Saturday morning and parents are welcome to wait in the library.
