Scandinavian Festival To Include Puzzle Making Contest

A puzzle making contest will be held at the Scandinavian Folk Festival on Saturday, July 18, at 2 p.m. First prize is $50, second prize is $30 and third prize is $20. There is an $11 fee per person to enter the contest. Teams can be up to four individuals. The puzzle being used in the contest will be given to one member of the team and all other members will receive a puzzle of their choice that is up to 500 pieces. There will be a 90-minute time limit. Winners are in order of puzzle completion or most pieces connected by three or more. The puzzle selected for the contest has a Nordic theme and 350 pieces. All individuals/teams must register with their fee paid by July 1 to Scandinavian Folk Festival, 430 Crossman St., Jamestown, NY 14701. For more information call 716-665-0883. Bemus Point Historical Society To Meet Wednesday

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series continues on Wednesday, June 10, as Jay Kuntz is welcomed to discuss perspectives on people contributing to the history of The Bemus Point-Stow Ferry up to the conclusion of the American Civil War. The event is free and open to the public beginning at 7 p.m. at the Bemus Point Village Hall on Alburtus Avenue. The adjacent Bemus Point Historical Society Museum will be open at 6:30 p.m. for touring. The public is welcome to attend.

Reg Lenna To Screen Film Wednesday

Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes star in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. The film will be screened at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts. On their way to Hollywood for a drag queen beauty pageant, Vida (Swayze), Chi Chi (Leguizamo) and Noxeema (Snipes) get stranded in the tiny Midwestern town of Snydersville. Determined to make the best of a bad situation, the travelers set out to repair the broken hearts, broken dreams and broken nails of the small-town residents during one wildly outrageous weekend. To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar is rated PG-13 and is 109 minutes long. The screening is presented in partnership with Jamestown Pride and will feature a pre-show event in the lobby starring Sabrina White and Co. beginning at 6 p.m. Upcoming Movies at The Reg include Ryan Gosling in the spring sci-fi hit movie Project Hail Mary (June 17 at 7 p.m.), Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada 2 (June 24 at 7 p.m.) and Hugh Jackman in the family comedy/mystery The Sheep Detectives (June 27 at 4 p.m.)

ILS Veterans Club To Host Spaghetti Dinner June 13

The ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, will serve spaghetti and meatballs dinners at the post on Saturday, June 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. or until gone. The cost of the dinner is $12 for adults and $7 for children and dinners will include salad and bread. Take-out dinners are available. The dinner is open to the public. The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary will have desserts for sale to benefit its programs. The post will open at 1 p.m.
