Auxiliary To Meet On Wednesday
The Kiantone Independent Fire Department Auxiliary will resume its monthly meetings beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday. New members are welcome to join.
Municipal Band To Perform
The Jamestown Municipal Band, under the direction of Rick Lundquist, will present the last in a series of three concerts at 7 p.m. today at the Goranson Bandshell in Allen Park in Jamestown. The concerts are free and family friendly. The hour-long concert will feature a wide variety of music chosen by the directors and the band members, and will include a clarinet solo and a tuba solo. The Allen Park women’s club will be on hand with refreshments. Bring a blanket or a lawnchair or sit on one of the benches down front.
Busti Gazebo Concert Is Set
BUSTI — “Old Dawg Bluegrass Band” will perform Saturday at the Busti Gazebo Concert series. The show will feature Mark Davis, Steve Strom, Bill White and Steve Eng. They perform throughout Western New York and Pennsylvania doing benefits, festivals and community events. Those who attend are asked to bring a lawn chair. The concert is sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association.
Society Of Artists To Meet Tuesday
ASHVILLE — The Chautauqua County Society of Artists will meet Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. at the Ashville Library. There is an elevator available for those not wishing to climb the stairs to the upper room. Those attending should bring wire cutters, glue guns and glue for the group’s project. The last meeting had six members present. Pizza and cookies were provided. The group had a show and tell of projects members had been working on during the COVID-19 pandemic when there were no meetings. Clerk Candidate To Hold Meeting
David Salley, the Democrat and Working Families parties candidate for Chautauqua County Clerk, will be holding a meet and greet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the McCrea Point Park and Boat Launch, 14 Jones and Gifford Ave., just off Eighth Street, Jamestown. The gathering will be in the red-roofed gazebo. It’s a free event with no admissions or no reservations.
Safety Day To Be Held Aug. 14
ASHVILLE — The Chautauqua Safety Village, 2695 Route 394, Ashville, is hosting its Community Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14. The event will include a bounce house, carnival games, safety demonstrations, train rides and refreshments. The event costs $3 per person and includes games and activities. Those 2 and under can enter for free.
Barbecue, Car Show Is Set
CHERRY CREEK — The 11th annual Chicken Barbecue and Barbecue Pork & Car Show to benefit cancer aid and research will take place from noon to 5 p.m.. Saturday. The Coyote Band will be performing from 1 to 3a p.m. Dinner includes barbecue chicken or pork, baked beans, macaroni salad and cookie at the Pine Valley VFW Post 2522, Route 83. Donation is only is $10. Check in time is 11:30 a.m.
