Culture Day Event At JCC Canceled

Because of the restrictions around COVID, the Saturday morning Culture Day event at Jamestown Community College is canceled for October.

Crane Work Forces Street Closures In City

Due to crane work on the Jamestown Municipal Building roof, Prendergast Avenue from East Second to East Third streets as well as access to portions of Tracy Plaza will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic Monday and Tuesday.

Carroll Historical Society Meets Monday

The Carroll Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at its facility. Subjects discussed will be on the remainder of the 2020 season, November meeting and upcoming winter projects. The meeting is opened to members only.

Gunshots Heard In City On Wed.

No one was injured after several gunshots were reported shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday in the city of Jamestown. Officers were called to the area of Falconer and Bowen streets after dispatch received word of several shots fired. Multiple shell casings were located, the department said in a news release Thursday. Investigators are seeking additional information on the shooting; anyone with information is asked to call JPD at 483-7537 or via the anonymous tips line at 483-Tips (8477) or the Tips 411 App. All calls and tips are kept confidential.

American Angus Association Adds Lydia S Covert

Lydia S Covert of Lakewood is a new junior member of the American Angus Association, reports Mark McCully, CEO of the national organization with headquarters in Saint Joseph, Mo. Junior members of the Association are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in association-sponsored shows and other national and regional events. The American Angus Association is the largest beef breed association in the world, with more than 25,000 active adult and junior members. Summer Decor Must Be Removed From Cemetery

FALCONER — All summer decorations must be removed from Pine Hill Cemetery grave sites prior to the end of day Monday, Oct. 12. Any remaining items will be discarded.

Planning Board Meets Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday via videoconferencing, as permitted by the state Open Meetings Law.
