Tea Party To Hold Meeting

“Mail-in voting: The Pros and Cons,” will be the freatured topic to discuss on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. at the general meeting of the Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots held at the Lakewood American Legion, 194 Chautauqua Ave. From the Chautauqua County Board of Elections, Democrat Commissioner Norm Green and Republican Commissioner Brian Abrams, will present their points of view on mail-in voting and clarify what makes mail-in voting different from absentee ballots.

Library Trustees To Meet Tuesday

Hazeltine Public Library trustees will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the library. The public is invited, and encouraged to contact the library at 487-1281 to make a reservation. CDC guidelines will be followed.

JCC Class Of 1966 To Meet

It has been 12-plus years since the Jamestown Community College Class of 1966 nursing graduates got together. Emails and phones have changed since that time. Therefore, JCC class of 1966 nursing graduates will be celebrating 54 years on Friday, Sept. 25, at Celoron Park at 1 p.m. for a picnic at the pavilion. Those attending should bring their own lunch and beverage and lots of good memories.

County Elections Board In Need Of Poll Workers

MAYVILLE–The Chautauqua County Board of Elections is now recruiting new and veteran election inspectors to work the Nov. 3 General Election at its 49 poll sites in the county. Any registered or pre-registered Democrat or Republican over age 16 is eligible to work, as long as they are able to read and write English and have passed an election inspector training course. The election work day is 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and the pay is the hourly $11.80 minimum wage. Visit votechautauqua.com to sign up for election inspector training.

County IDA To Meet On Aug. 25

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency board will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, via live stream on YouTube. Members of the public may view the board meeting by visiting YouTube and searching “County of Chautauqua IDA.” Once on the webpage, viewers can click on “videos” to watch the live stream. Minutes of the board meeting will transcribed and posted on the agency’s website once approved by the board.

Agencies To Receive Funds

The Jamestown Housing Authority, Southern Tier Environments for Living and city of Salamanca are among the agencies that will receive Department of Housing and Urban Development CARES Act grants. The funding is a part of the CARES ACT Housing Choice Voucher Program Administration Fees Round 2 program. This wave of HUD allocations will be used for preparation, prevention, or in response to a Coronavirus outbreak. “We care about making sure those in our district are provided fair access to safe housing, especially during the COVID-19 crisis,” said U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning. Southern Tier Environments For Living will receive $3,555, the Jamestown Housing Authority will receive $34,811 and Salamanca will receive $19,302.
