School Board To Meet Today

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. today in the auditorium. The public is invited to view the meeting. Visit www.pancent.org for a link to view meeting.

Historical Society Meeting Set

BLOCKVILLE — The Harmony Historical Society will have an informational meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The group will meet outside, no refreshments will be served. Plans will be discussed for the Sept. 19 yard sale, quilt show and Panama Fire Department chicken barbecue. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Social distancing and masks will be in effect.

Harmony Senior Citizens To Hold Meeting Friday

The Harmony Senior Citizens will be holding a drive-in-parking lot meeting Friday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. Members are asked to meet at the Panama United Methodist Church parking lot. Cars are to be parked in a circle and backed in. Participants can either sit in their car or bring a lawn chair to be placed in front of their car. Face masks are required and individuals are asked to maintain social distancing. No food will be served and no food should be brought. Members are encouraged to walk around to greet other members while abiding by the new rules. In case of rain, the event will be cancelled.

JPS Board Of Education To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Jefferson Middle School auditorium, 195 Martin Road, Jamestown. Due to New York State guidelines of gatherings not to exceed 50 people, those who want to attend in person must email jaunita.m.walter@jpsny.org or call 483-4420 to reserve a space prior to Tuesday at 10 a.m. This will ensure the district doesn’t exceed New York state guidelines. A COVID-19 screening form will have to be completed and masks will have to be worn until seated. Items on the agenda include approval of a revised 2020-21 instructional calendar and Washington Middle School renovations and roof replacement updates.

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop Announces Summer Sale

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets in Jamestown, announced its summer clothing clearance sale. Ladies tops, capris, slacks, shorts, dresses, bathing suits and plus-sized clothing are half price. Men’s slacks and shorts are half priced, with shirts at $1. Children’s clothing is all half-priced. Those who shop are asked to enter on Pine Street and exit to the church parking lot. Face coverings will be required.

Quilter’s Guild To Meet Thursday

WESTFIELD — The monthly meeting of the Westfield Quilters’ Guild will be held Thursday at the Westfield YWCA. Social time begins at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. In cooperation with the YWCA’s policies during the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks are required. There is no planned program for this month, so those attending should plan to bring their creations for another show and tell. Last month, 40 items were shared with the small group.
