Ellery Seniors To Meet Today

The Ellery Senior Citizens will meet at St. Timothy Lutheran Church on Friday at noon. Members should bring a dish to pass and Bingo will be played for prizes. The Kitchen committee will be Betty Lou Cheney and Becky Sheesley. Last month, Elaine Crossley led the flag salute to open the business meeting led by president Marty Hunt. Jan Stowell led devotions and read a passage from the book “Let’s Roll” written by Lisa Beamer, wife of Todd Beamer who was instrumental in saving the White House from being destroyed when Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pa., on 9/11. Don Bauer, Ola Olson and Julie Hatch celebrated birthdays. Some members shared items, antique toys, kitchen ware and tools, that they brought from home.

School Board Sets Meeting

SALAMANCA — The Salamanca City Central School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 a.m. in the superintendent’s office. The special meeting will be held for the purpose of a committee on pre-school special education consideration and is open to the public.

Remembrance Day To Be Held

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello will be joining officials from the Western New York Perinatal Bereavement Network Inc. and UPMC Chautauqua to recognize National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Maternity Lobby, 3E, of UPMC Chautauqua, 207 Foote Ave., Jamestown. The remembrance ceremony will bring together area residents to honor the babies who have died during the perinatal period due to a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or other early infant death. The event will also provide love and support for grieving families. Borrello will be joined by Christine Scott, executive director of the Western New York Perinatal Bereavement Network and a representative from UPMC Chautauqua.

Library Sets Board Meeting

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Public Library, 13 Main St., is having its monthly board meeting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the library.

Community Dance To Be Held

The Jamestown Community Third Friday Dance will be Friday, Oct. 18, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Tree of Life Church, 825 Forest Ave., Jamestown. All dances will be taught by caller Joe Kwiatkowski with live music by Viol Habits. No partner is necessary. Admission is $5. Light snack provided.

Cookbook Dinner Planned Oct. 18

NAPOLI — A Cookbook Dinner will be hosted the at Napoli United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct. 18, from 5-7 p.m. A meal made from recipes from the church’s newly published cookbook will be served. Free will donations will be accepted. Cookbooks will be on sale for $12 with proceeds benefiting the church.

Harvest Dinner Is Set For Oct. 19

BUSTI — Busti Federated Church will host a harvest dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. The cost is a donation. Take-out orders are available. The meal is being served at the Busti Fire Department at the five corners of Busti.
