Observatory To Host Speaker

FREWSBURG — The Martz-Kohl Observatory, 176 Robbin Hill Road, Frewsburg, will welcome guest speaker Phil Evans on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.. Evans is a longtime member of the observatory and is known for his entertaining presentations that are suitable for all ages. Evans has a true enjoyment of astronomy and appreciates communicating with others who share a passion for space science. Following the presentation, the observatory will be open for members and the public to tour the observatory and view the night sky, weather permitting.

Historical Society To Meet Mon.

The Carroll Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting Monday at its facility located at 5 W. Main St. behind the Town Hall. A discussion on a grant and change of operation will be discussed in addition to possible changes to the bylaws. The meetings are opened to the public and members are asked to attend. Anyone with questions is asked to call 720-7611.

Community Grant Announced

A $167,000 grant to provide The Chautauqua Center with funding to support its efforts to provide healthcare in the community has been announced. “We care about ensuring that our friends and neighbors have fair access to affordable and high-quality healthcare,” said Rep. Tom Reed. “This grant enables The Chautauqua Center to grow their team, ensuring the continuation of quality care provided and a boost in jobs.” Said Michael C. Pease, chief executive. “By securing this funding TCC will be able to offer a new line of service, chiropractic, as an alternative form of pain management. As we continue to expand services our goal has always been to treat the whole person in a fully integrated manner while at the same time offer the services that the patient desires. Our model of care is based on a partnership with the consumer. We will continue to add services to our scope of offerings as part of this partnership.”

Dahlgren Family Reunion Held

The first reunion in over 50 years of the descendants of John August Dahlgren was held recently at the Allen Park Men’s Club. After a brief family history and a prayer from Walt Dahlgren, a potluck dinner was enjoyed by about 40 family members. After dinner, memories, photos and genealogy were shared. Plans for another gathering were discussed.

Development Meeting Aug. 27

The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. at the BWB Building, 201 West Third Street, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Food Policy Council To Meet

CASSADAGA — The Chautauqua County Food Policy Council will be meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Park United Methodist Church’s Jefferson Hall, 25 Maple Ave., Cassadaga.

Wright Celebrates 94th Birthday

June Wright celebrated her 94th birthday on July 13, 2019, at the Farmers Inn in Sigel, Pa., surrounded by family and friends. June had been employed by Chautauqua Hardware in Jamestown for 20 years, retiring to Marianville. Pa., for 18 years. She is now residing at Mahoning Towers in Punxsutawney, Pa.
