Street Tree Inventory Starts

The Jamestown Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department announces that the Davey Resource Group, a division of the Davey Tree Expert Company, will begin a street tree inventory in Jamestown neighborhoods starting this week. Workers will be measuring and evaluating city trees in the right-of-way starting in Ward 1 before continuing over to Ward 3. The inventory will be used as part of the management of the city’s urban forest. The inventory project is being funded through a grant by the Department of Environmental Conservation. BPU Fixed Power Outtage Tuesday

An excavator working at a building on Jones and Gifford Avenue Tuesday mistakenly hit a BPU pole guy wire. The wire fell into primary wires and caused a circuit to open, cutting power to approximately 500 people in the village of Celoron. The power was restored by noon, the BPU said.

Street Closing For Construction

Broadhead Avenue, between Kidder Street and Newland Avenue in Jamestown, will be closed for total reconstruction. No parking on either side of the street will be permitted between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The project is expected to be on-going through mid-summer. Motorists must also use alternate routes of travel.

Conference Sat.

The Fenton History Center’s Hall House Genealogy Support Group is sponsoring a genealogy conference on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.at the Fluvanna Community Church. For class times and descriptions visit www.crgconference.com. The cost is $50 for a full day including lunch or $30 for half day, which does not include lunch. Registration is being accepted by visiting or calling the Fenton History Center at 664-6256.

Bethel Pasta

Dinner On Friday

Bethel Baptist Christian Academy will host a pasta dinner and live auction on April 5 beginning at 5 p.m. Bethel Baptist Christian Academy is located at 200 Hunt Road, West Ellicott. Tickets for adults are $8. Children in pre-kindergarten through first grade are $4 and children in second through 12th grades are $6. For tickets, call 484-7420.

Falconer Kiwanis Club Barbecue

FALCONER — The Kiwanis Club of Falconer is having a chicken barbecue on Saturday, April 6, at the Falconer Moose Lodge from 5 to 7 p.m. Dinners will be available at the door for $10 while supplies last. Proceeds will go to Kiwanis Service Leadership programs at Falconer Central Schools, including the Terrific Kids, Key Club, Builders Club, K Kids and Key Leader. Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis and its youth-oriented Service Leadership Programs serve communities in more than 80 countries and geographic areas. New members are welcome. Clymer Library Board To Meet

The Clymer French-Creek Free Library board will have its quarterly board meeting at the library on Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
