To Host Tours

Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will host tours and information sessions for interested applicants and their families today at 10 a.m. Cassadaga Job Corps Academy offers no-cost career training in the health care, construction and security industries as well as classes to prepare to take the TASC or obtain a high school diploma. Career training programs include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, certified nurse assistant and security. In addition, the Academy also offers a Job Corps Advanced Training program for LPN, in partnership with BOCES. In order to enroll in Job Corps, applicants must be 16-24 years old and meet income and other guidelines, as well as demonstrate readiness to embark on a rigorous and demanding training program. Job Corps will provide the courses described above, as well as a comprehensive career preparation curriculum to ensure graduates are ready to enter the labor market. War Veterans Meeting Jan. 17

The War Veterans Recreation Inc.’s annual meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the club house, 3431 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown. The meeting will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. and is open to all paid up veteran members. All members will be required to show their current membership card for entrance to the meeting. At 6:30 p.m. the doors will be closed and no late comers will be admitted to the meeting.

Land Bank Corp. Meets Jan. 9

The Chautauqua County Land Bank Corp. has scheduled its monthly board meeting for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, in conference room 331 at the Gerace Office Building, 3 No. Erie St., Mayville. The board meeting is conducted to discuss business associated with the acquisition and sale of property by the land bank and other official business as required. The Acquisition/Disposition Committee will meet prior to the board at 8:30 a.m. The press, public and other stakeholders are welcome to attend.

Boy Scouts To Hold Can Drive

WESTFIELD — Westfield Boy Scout Troop 201 will hold a can drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Recyclable cans and bottles can be taken to the First Presbyterian Church, 49 S. Portage St., Westfield. Proceeds from the can drive will help to pay for a spring trip to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, and a trip to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh.

Theater Auditions Taking Place

Auditions for the Lucille Ball Little Theatre’s upcoming production of “To Kill a Mockingbird” will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. The show will be performed in March.

Planning Board Meets Jan. 9

The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 4 p.m. in room 118/119 of the JCC North County Center, 10785 Bennett Road, Dunkirk.
