Gardeners Group To Offer Advice

The Chautauqua Country Master Gardeners of the Cornell Cooperative Extension offers free gardening advice and PH soil tests to the public weekly until the end of September. Master Gardners are available from noon-2 p.m. Wednesdays except for holidays by calling 664-9502, ext. 224, or at the Frank W. Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown.

Church To Host Blood Drive

First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St., Jamestown, will be hosting an American Red Cross blood drive today from 1-6 p.m. The need for blood is urgent. The public is welcome to attend.

Municipal Band To Play Today

The Jamestown Summer Bandshell Performance will feature the Jamestown Municipal Band as directed by Alicia Laska, assistant director, at 7 p.m. today. The free concert series is held at the Goranson Bandshell in Allen Park. This week’s concert theme is “Music of Many Lands.” In addition to funding provided annually by the city of Jamestown, sponsors include the Allen Park Women’s Club, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Chautauqua Theater Company, Cummins Engine, Fessenden, Laumer & DeAngelo; Lind Funeral Home, Local 134, American Federation of Musicians; Scandinavian Studies Program, Salon 1, The Resource Center, The United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grant Program and UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital. As in previous years, members of the Allen Park Women’s Club will continue selling coffee, fudge and other baked goods. Concerts are free. Those attending should bring lawn chairs, blankets or park their vehicles close by to listen to the music.

Urgent Care To Host Preview Day

Bridge League Games Held

LAKEWOOD — Don and Jojo Lindquist tied for first place with Sharon Rissel and Bev Prince with Anne and Tyn Smith for third during the July 26 Jamestown Area Bridge League game. Area and out-of-town guests are welcome to play. Games are at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at 35 Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. For more information, call Shelley Dahlie at 763-3805. Partners are available.

Church To Host Chicken BBQ

STOW — The Magnolia United Methodist Church, located at 3969 Route 394, north of Stow, will be holding a chicken barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 3-7 p.m. The meal includes chicken from 3C’s Catering, potato salad, applesauce, roll, pie and a beverage. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Take-outs will be available. The public is welcome to attend.

Outdoor Club To Hike 20 Miles

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes 20 miles from Franklin at Route 8 to Van. Participants will meet at Betts Park at 1 p.m. For more information call Earl Ross at 814-726-3920.
