‘As You Like It’ To Be Performed

The final performance of the Jamestown Summer Bandshell Performance series will feature an encore performance of William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Goranson Bandshell in Allen Park. The production, directed by Andrew Borba, Chautauqua Theatre Company artistic director, is part of the Chautauqua Theatre Company’s Free Will: Chautauqua Shakespeare in the Park. In addition to funding provided annually by the city of Jamestown, sponsors include the Allen Park Women’s Club, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Chautauqua Theater Company, Fessenden, Laumer & DeAngelo; Lind Funeral Home, Local 134, American Federation of Musicians; Scandinavian Studies Program, Salon 1, The Resource Center, The United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grant Program, and UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital. The Allen Park Women’s Club will provide coffee, fudge and other baked goods during the performance.

Teresi To Host Public Hearing

Mayor Sam Teresi will host a public hearing regarding the awarding of an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant. The public hearing will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the fourth floor training room in Jamestown’s City Hall, 200 E. Third St., Jamestown.

Gowanda Church To Host Dinner

GOWANDA — St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 26 Erie Ave., Gowanda, will hold its monthly community meal from 4-6 p.m. Saturday. The meal includes baked chicken, macaroni salad, pickle, roll, watermelon and beverages. The public is welcome to attend.

Bluegrass Band To Perform

BUSTI — The Busti Gazebo Concert will feature the Old Dawg Bluegrass Band from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday. The band members are all from the Jamestown area and include Mark “Old Dawg” Davison, upright bass; Steve Strom, upright bass; Steve Strom, mandolin and vocals; Bill White, banjo, dobra and vocals; and Steve Eng, guitar and vocals. Those attending should bring their lawn chairs for seating. The concert is sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

Blood Drive To Be Held Sunday

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive at the Chautauqua Mall on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On-site registration will be provided, and anyone interested in donating can visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS. A Blood Donor App is also available for download. Red Cross is reporting a blood shortage and is issuing an emergency request for eligible blood and platelet donors of all types.

JIM Club To

Perform Sunday

CONEWANGO VALLEY — Members of the Boys JIM Club will perform at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Conewango Valley United Methodist Church. The group performs music, art, magic, mime, ventriloquism, art and preaches.

Police To Inspect Child Car Seats

The Lakewood-Busti Police Department will be holding a child safety seat check on Aug. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at Lawson Park, 3359 Lawson Road, Jamestown. This check is to ensure proper installation of a child seat in a vehicle.
