‘They Call It Green’

To The Reader’s Forum: The devastation in Cherry Creek has begun. Out of town workers are removing vast swaths of forest from land adjacent to state land and the Eastside Overland Trails on Boutwell Hill. Charlotte is next. This is the Cassadaga Wind Project. They call it green. Clearing forest to be replaced with 37 industrial wind turbines. Each industrial turbine is made of 900 tons of steel, 2500 tons of concrete and 45 tons of non recyclable plastic. To The Reader’s Forum: Some adolescent or perhaps older immature person arranged some objects in a parking lot in the shape of a swastika. It made the front page top story in the Post Journal and maybe ignited a movement to repeal the first amendment or maybe the whole Constitution and conduct a global witch hunt complete with burnings at the stake for thought crime — or at least calls for such by moral exhibitionists. To The Reader’s Forum: One of the first things I learned at the beginning of my business career was to accept responsibility when you screw up. Everybody makes mistakes so the true character of an individual is revealed when they make one. If you try to hide, blame others, or attempt to cover up you will be caught, your lack of character and honesty will be revealed, and your future, at least with that company, will be short. Bicyclist Thankful For Paving Of Lake Road

To The Reader’s Forum: A big thank you to the county for paving the shoulders on the lake road between Lakewod Rod and Gun Club and Burtis Bay Park/Jackson Avenue. We as cyclists have been rising our lives riding on that narrow road for years. This road is used extensively for access to Lakewood and Celoron. We now have a safety edge on the side of the road that we didn’t have before. Thank you Chautauqua County Highway Dept. and everyone associated with this huge safety improvement. Tom Reed Not Working For The District

To The Reader’s Forum: Regarding a recent P-J article on Tom Reed, I’ll borrow a phrase from Ronald Reagan: “Well, there you (don’t) go again.” The article highlights Reed’s comments on issues raised at a Dayton “town hall.” It reveals Reed’s lack of understanding of both our district and the “issues” as well as showing his “do nothing” approach. Reed first addresses the “USMCA” trade agreement, but totally neglects its effect on our district; primarily a rural, farming district. Town Board Pulls A Fast One For Big Wind

To the Reader’s Forum: New rules, new rules: At its August 14 meeting, the Villenova Town Board came up with a new law called “Abolishment of the Planning Board of the Town of Villenova.” Acting board chairwoman Yvonne Park refused to hear public comment before or after the decision. The town board is faced with a Chautauqua County Supreme Court ruling and an Article 78 lawsuit that says “the responsibility of the planning board is to make recommendations to the town board - a duty that cannot be fulfilled, either ethically or legally, by only two board members.” (Observer, ...
