Reader Makes Call To Action To Help The Earth

To The Reader’s Forum: Years ago someone from England proposed the idea that Gaia - that being the Greek word for Earth - is a big organism, and was able to take care of herself. If things got too far out of balance, she would take steps to correct them. Well, things have gotten pretty much out of hand with the climate. After the latest hurricane, the Bahamas look like a garbage dump, and it’s continuing to raise havoc as it goes up the coast. On top of that, we have seen in recent years people driving in six inches of water in Miami Beach, and an entire South Pacific Island ...

Team Earns Its Money

To The Reader’s Forum: I’d like to applaud the Falconer Lady Falcons soccer team for the car wash they held on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Jamestown Harley Davidson dealership. Too often today, we see young adults standing at the entrance to Walmart asking for handouts rather than organizing fundraisers and earning the money. When I was a youth, we held car washes, spaghetti dinners and pancake breakfasts to raise funds for youth group trips. Many local businesses will gladly donate all, or at least a portion of the necessary items to host such an event. What message is being ...

Reader Disagrees With Sanders Article

To The Reader’s Forum: Permit me to disagree with the last paragraph of your recent article about Bernie Sanders. His goal is not “to be able to boast that he did so”. His goal is really to eliminate the use of fossil fuels in order to stop or slow climate change, or global warming. He believes, as I do, that global warming constitutes an existential danger to the human race. If we fail to take aggressive action, we, and perhaps all life are in great danger. Of course it will be expensive, but the alternative is not very attractive. Samuel Alessi Jamestown

Reader Comments On Health Care Plans

To The Reader’s Forum: A popular “pc” pastor on the left, Rev. William Barber, speaking recently at a conference for a major political party said that the Constitution promotes socialism. He justified his opinion citing the “general welfare” clause in the document. He did nothing more than read his historical revisionism and uninformed opinion into our freedom-protecting anti-socialistic Constitution. When James Madison, known as the “Father of the Constitution” wrote a stinging rebuke to those manipulating the “general welfare” clause for government spending any ...

Reader Thinks Village Board Should Be Ashamed

To The Reader’s Forum: Regarding Ann Thorpe’s article, I am truly with you. Your article is right on point. Thank you so much. What else can you expect from an entitled, narcisistic clown? I saw a sticker on a car, it read, “Elect a clown, expect a circus.” How true! Regarding Brenda Goodwill, the Village Board should be ashamed and anyone else who complained. Thank you to the 57 percent who didn’t agree with Falconer. I wish you well Brenda and the “animals.” Robert Siedhoff, Frewsburg

Reader Points Out ‘Hypocrisy’ Of Priest

To The Reader’s Forum: It was reported in the Sept. 3, 2019, edition of The Post-Journal that “A Catholic school in Tennessee has removed the Harry Potter books from their library after the school’s priest decided they could cause a reader to conjure up evil spirits”. Are you kidding me? What hypocrisy! We’re all now learning that many priests in the Catholic Church have been hiding and covering up child predators, molesters, and rapists for years! The school’s priest thinks evil spirits can be conjured up by “reading the text” of Harry Potter. Sounds to me as if ...
