Why Is Our Country A Joke?

To The Reader’s Forum: Why is our country a joke as former President Trump indicated in his acceptance speech Tuesday night? Our country was created by a teeming mass of immigrants and now we are a joke! I don’t understand. I thought the Statue of Liberty reflected the values of the US. Have we lost those values and that is why we are now a joke? To The Reader’s Forum: While there were some empty seats at the Duo Recital of Aaron and Boaz Meacham, Wednesday, March 13, at 5:30 p.m., at the James Prendergast Free Library, the occupied seats were brimming with anticipation and appreciation at every pause in the repertoire. The young men, Aaron and Boaz are twins and are each talented violinists and pianists. Both men took a turn at the violin and piano accompaniment and were exceptional in their showmanship. Homeowner Wants Information Sooner, Rather Than Later, On Lake

To The Reader’s Forum: For the past several years we have dreamed of one day retiring on Chatauqua Lake. Our dream finally came true last July, when we closed on a lake house in Busti/Lakewood. We chose this location because of Lakewood and its great community feel, and the wonderful neighborhoods. We totally invested in the area, because of what we saw. Pignataro, DEC Assistant Public Information officer declared that the Chautauqua Lake “South Basin is Likely to Become a Protected Wetlands Area” when the new 2025 rules take effect. To The Reader’s Forum: The topic of how New York State’s pending wetlands regulations revisions undertaking is going to affect the Chautauqua Lake community has become an emotional discussion topic in the community. Suppositions are being expounded upon that may or may not be real. The discussion needs to be toned down and better well-rounded. Chautauqua Lake is certainly a main economic driver for Chautauqua County’s economic well-being. To The Reader’s Forum: This letter is in reaction to the March 2 news article stating the DEC’s apparent intent to unfairly declare parts of the south basin of Chautauqua Lake a regulated wetland. I have studied the new rule, attended the informational session, asked questions, and submitted comments, all without ANY response at all. As written, the proposed wetland classification definitions are broad enough that the littoral zone of every single lake in New York state would qualify as a wetland, so I ask why?
