JAMESTOWN AREA

LEAGUE

MODIFIED DIVISION

The defense led the way as the South Side Blue Devils captured the Modified Division title by beating Dunkirk, 36-13, recently.

South Side limited Dunkirk to just one first down, and had 10 tackles for losses, three fumble recoveries and two sacks in the win.

Savon Vansickle was the standout offensively with 282 yards rushing on 26 carries while scoring on runs of 5, 15 and 65 yards.

Josh Tonkin scored on 10-yard run and Jonah Tonkin on a 5-yard run for the winners. Extra points were made by Josh Loomis, Jacob Blackmar and Vansickle with Loomis and Vansickle catching passes from Josh Tonkin and Blackmar running his in.

Jose Camacho tallied on a 65-yard run and Tyson Wright on a 53-yard run for Dunkirk. Conrad Thomas had a conversion.

Josh Tonkin had 8.5 tackles, including two for losses, and Jonah Tonkin and Tank Erickson added 7.5 tackles for South Side.

Wright, Aderin Washington, Aubrey Deleon and Mateo Janczykik shined defensively for Dunkirk.

VARSITY DIVISION

Having already clinched the title, South Side claimed an undefeated season by downing host Dunkirk, 20-0.

Jaylen Butera had TD runs of 37 and 20 yards and Cam’ron Mays cracked over from the 1 for South Side. Butera and Mays also made conversions.

Butera wound up with 138 yards on seven carries and Mays added 66 yards on eight carries.

Kayden Herman led the winning defense with 6.5 tackles, including four for losses, and Lange added six tackles. Overall, the defense had nine tackles for losses, two fumble recoveries and a sack in recording its sixth shutout of the season.

JUNIOR VARSITY

Led by the rushing of Davion White, Dunkirk downed South Side, 36-26.

Draven DeJesus rambled 65 yards to paydirt, Keith Miller scored from 42 yards and from 65 yards and Miller hit Alden Greenawalt for a 42-yard touchdown pass in a losing cause.

Miller gained 103 yards on seven carries and DeJesus 83 yards on six rushes in the loss. Defensively, Miller made 7.5 tackles and Mays added five tackles.

White, Mike Hanlon, Christian Hernandez and Noah Sikes scored for Dunkirk. Donny Jackson and Donavan Thompson sparked the defense.

Midget Football

VARSITY

Jevonte Turner and Ryan Eddy had touchdowns as Westside beat Fredonia, 24-6.

Ty Schultz and Nolan Bush led the Westside defense.

Fredonia’s offense was led by first-time quarterback Devon McCall while the defense was led by Dillan Skelly.

JAYVEE

Fredonia’s defensive line of Mark Levens, Milo Kinkela, Jason Kirk, Sebastian Puglisi and Ruben Santos played a very strong game in a 15-6 win over Westside.

Sam Atzrott and Dalton Wolcott also contributed key tackles while Payton Glavey recorded a safety. Offensively, Keegan Whitfield ran for two touchdowns and Jameson Quinn ran one in for the extra point to complete the scoring for Fredonia. Tyler Kuzdale and Simon Price had key blocks as well as Malachi Hall who also recovered a fumble for the offense.

Caleb Piazza led all rushers and scored Westside’s lone touchdown. Cole Joly completed a pass to Quincy Pace.

The Westside defense was led by Cole Bloomquist, Thomas Pratton and Hakeen Prye who each had eight tackles. Ayden Hagelin and Owen Slojukowski added five tackles each.

MODIFIED

Nate Hill was 6 of 7 passing with two touchdowns to lead Westside to a 25-14 win.

Masen Maggio led all receivers with 95 yards and a touchdown while Tyler Swegels also had a touchdown grab to seal the victory.

Hill also rushed for two scores and racked up 57 yards on the ground. Harrison Monfort fought for 49 yards while Owen Maggio also ripped of a 50-yard run to put the Panthers in scoring position.

The defense was lead by Monfort who tallied 10 tackles. Simeon Leeper and Andrew Harrier each added six tackles while the Maggio brothers each had five tackles with Masen Maggio adding a sack. Carter Eganski and Dalton Frayley each had a sack and played very well. Derrick Howser and Nevan Kearney each had well-timed interceptions,

Dalton Gardner and Jake Skinner scored Fredonia’s touchdowns. Skinner also caught a 2-point conversion thrown by Kaleb Rybij. The defense was led by Skinner and Gardner while Tyler Sillanpaa also had a good game.

LAKE SHORE LEAGUE

Southwestern defeated the Bemus Point Dragons, 20-6, to advance to the Junior Varsity championship game Saturday against Westfield.

The Trojans’ defense was tough for the duration of the game, allowing just 109 total yards and one late fourth-quarter touchdown.

Defensive back Joey Pierce led the charge on defense for Southwestern with seven tackles. Eddie Gibbon, Dominic Vavala and Griffin Bogdanowicz combined for 26 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Due to the stout Bemus Point run defense, the Trojans were forced to air it out offensively to get most of its 318 total yards. Aiden Kennedy threw for 122 yards and one touchdown and Bogdanowicz had one pass completion for 60 yards. Nate Johnson had a huge game for Southwestern, catching three passes for 154 yards and one touchdown. Max Marshall caught two passes for 32 yards and Kennedy ran for 58 yards with two touchdowns.

The championship game will take place at Southwestern at 4 p.m., Saturday.

VARSITY

Jevonte Turner rushed for 107 yards and scored twice as the Westside Panthers prevailed over the Northside Warriors, 30-18.

Owen Maggio had 97 yards and touchdown while Markell Carter contributed 90 yards rushing and a touchdown for the winners.

Maggio threw three conversion passes to Turner, Carter and Joey Palermo.

For Northside, Sincere Green delivered 130 yards rushing and a touchdown; Trey Drake tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Malakai Ocasio; and Lebron Fisher had 70 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Kyler Nickerson led Westside with six tackles and Josh Rush had five tackles and a sack while Caleb Bane, Jaral Farmer and Malachai Eckberg had sacks as well. Devon Hilliman added three tackles, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.

Harlem King and Camden Blair split 18 tackles while Julian McGaughy and Green split 16 tackles in the loss.

Dunkirk and Fredonia played to a 6-6 deadlock.

Marcell Carter tallied on a 2-yard run for Dunkirk while Nick Whitfield scored on a fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line from Fredonia.

The Dunkirk defense was led Diego Perez, Geo Pagan and Javy DeJesus while Reggie Brant intercepted a pass.

For Fredonia, Matt Lotter and Brayden Gilbert were the defensive standouts.

JUNIOR VARSITY

Eric Reese had 167 yards rushing while scoring four times and having two extra points as Northside outlasted Westside, 41-24.

Patrick Spencer had 104 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and Jack Carlson added 101 yards rushing and two touchdowns while also passing for two points for the winners.

Caleb Piazza had touchdown jaunts of 65 and 24 yards, Quincey Page added a 17-yard touchdown and Rivera had a 1-yard run for a score in a losing cause.

Ison Shirley paced the winning defense with 10 tackles and Spencer had nine tackles while Kain Torres and Xavier Foust added seven tackles apiece.

Makaya Freeney had seven tackles for Westside while Jack Lundberg and Thomas Pratton had five tackles each. Hakeen Pryce intercepted a conversion pass in the loss.

Adam Fred, Noah Sikes and Davion White scored touchdowns as Dunkirk beat Fredonia, 33-14.

Keegan Whitfield had two rushing touchdowns and completed two passes to Jameson Quinn, including a 2-point conversion pass, for Fredonia.

Sam Atzrott made several fine blocks for Fredonia.

Defensively for Dunkirk, Nathan Carlson, Cadance Campbell and Trestin Briggs stood out.

Jason Kirk and Aidyn Dotson sparked Fredonia defensively.

MODIFIED

Takaye Branch had 105 yards rushing and a touchdown, a conversion run and threw two-point conversion passes to Demarri Jones as Northside topped Westside 29-10.

Branch also caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Christopher Terhune, who had 111 yards passing. Another touchdown was scored on the ground by Deryek Brown.

Simon Leeper and Chicago Jackson earned a safety by tackling the runner in the end zone in the loss. Harrison Monfort scored and ran in the conversion while Nate Hill had 70 yards rushing and Tyler Swegels was 6 of 8 passing in the setback.

Travon Blakeslee had six tackles and an interception for a touchdown for the winners. Brown had 11 tackles, Tim Riley had eight tackles, Gabriel Colon had six tackles and an interception, Elijah Pitts had five tackles and an interception, and Branch had six tackles and a sack.

The defense was led by Monfort and Chase Jones with seven tackles apiece while Carter Eganski added four stops.

Jose Camocho and Tyson Wright scored touchdowns while Wright added a conversion as Dunkirk blanked Fredonia, 14-0.

Conrad Thomas Jr. also had a conversion run in the win.

Tyson Wright, Aderin Washington, Aubrey DeLeon, Mateo Janczylik, Angel Rios and Tyler Cole were among the defensive standouts for Dunkirk.

Fredonia was led by rushing of Dalton Gardner and Dom Gullo while the defense was sparked by Jacob Thompson and Anthony Gullo.

JAMESTOWN AREA LEAGUE

MODIFIED

Savon Vansickle put on another rushing and scoring exhibition on Saturday for the Southside Blue Devils.

Vansickle scored five touchdowns from distances of 56, 32, 56, 45 and 20 yards on the way to 189 yards as the Blue Devils routed Fredonia, 37-0.

The 56-yard touchdown was a pass from Josh Tonkin and the other touchdown was scored by Jonah Tonkin on a 12-yard run. Josh Tonkin passed to Jonah Tonkin for the conversion.

Caleb Erickson had 4 tackles and a sack, and Jonah Tonkin 4 tackles to lead the winning defense to a second straight shutout. Jacob Blackmar had two of the team’s four sacks.

Lack of officials postponed the game between Northside and Dunkirk.

VARSITY

Undefeated Southside ran its winning streak to six and 12 over a two-year period by using 10 different backs on offense and a defense that collected two interceptions and a fumble recovery in a 26-0 win over Fredonia.

Cam’ron Mays crossed the goal line from 49 yards, Michael Boron from the 1, Jaylen Butera from 56 yards and Kayden Herman from 34 yards for the Blue Devils. Ben Anderson and Harlem Green ran in conversions.

Mays ran four times for 60 yards, Butera once for 56 yards and Herman six times for 52 yards in the win.

Herman had seven tackles and fumble recovery, and Bishop Slaughter added three tackles for the Southside defense.

Sincere Green rambled for 159 yards on 13 carries when Northside lost to Dunkirk, 14-0.

Julian McGaughy and Nate Torres had 10 tackles and Malakai Ocassio eight tackles in the defeat.

Marcell Carter and George Pagan scored for Dunkirk, and teammates Jashawn Courier, Jamari Terry, Nick Zatorski and Javy DeJesus led the defense.

JUNIOR VARSITY

The Southside Blue Devils, led by Brady Weatherby and Keith Miller, went over 100 yards rushing again en route to defeating Fredonia, 14-7.

Weatherby has had games of 118 and 109 yards and Miller 114 yards and 103 yards in allowing the offense to control the pace of the game.

Miller scored on runs of 19 and 7 yards for the winners while Jacob Willey scored for Fredonia and Sam Atzrott added the extra point.

Kyle Knisley had 5 tackles and fumble recovery and Miller added 4 tackles in the win.

For Fredonia, Malachi Hall had some outstanding blocks for the offense, Payton Glavey had several tackles and a fumble recovery, and Keegan Tryczenski a touchdown-saving tackle at safety.

Eric Reese Jr. gained 138 yards and a touchdown and Patrick Spencer 118 yards and two touchdowns as North Side downed Dunkirk, 20-12.

Xavier Foust added 66 yards and Jack Carson passed to Carson Panebianco for a two-point conversion for the victors.

Defensively for the North Side, Ison Shirley made 15 stops and two sacks, Terrell Reese nine tackles, Bishop Butts eight tackles, and John Ocassio and Panebianco six tackles apiece.

Noah Sikes and Davion White scored for Dunkirk, and Zachary Zentz and Teddy Robertson starred on defense.

LAKE SHORE LEAGUE

Southwestern defeated Falconer 22-0 on a very cold, windy and rainy night.

The game was a defensive struggle with Ashton Mathews, Danny White and Eddie Gibbon combining for 12 tackles, two fumble recoveries and a pass batted down that helped Southwestern secure its second straight shutout.

Maddox Henry had several deep kickoffs to pin the Falcons in their own end. Mathews scored the first touchdown from 5 yards and ended the night with 74 yards on eight carries. Aiden Kennedy ran for 67 yards and one TD and Michael Kunkle scored a fourth-quarter TD to round out the scoring.

Southwestern beat Cassadaga, 46-34, to improve to 6-0 for the year, on a day when its offense gained more than 400 yards.

Griffin Bogdanowicz started the game off with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Kennedy. Then, after a fumble recovery by Cameron Lemk, Kennedy hit Bogdanowicz for a 60-yard TD pass to make the score 14-0. With time still left in the first quarter, Bogdanowicz (four rushes, 91 yards) scored again, running a sweep from 35 yards out. to make the score 20-8.

Nate Johnson caused a fumble and then returned it 50 yards for TD right before halftime, making the score 26-8. Kennedy threw for two second-half touchdowns, both going to Max Marshall, from 32 and 5 yards, and Michael Butterfield scored the last Southwestern TD. Austin Chase led the Trojans on defense with eight solo tackles and a fumble recovery, Matt Pannes had seven tackles (two sacks) and Dominic Vavala had eight tackles and one sack.

Southwestern’s junior closed out the season with a 20-0 win over Chautauqua Lake, placing first in the division (7-0) and snagging the No. 1 seed going into the playoffs. Aiden Kennedy started the gameby racing 70 yards on the opening kickoff. Griffin Bogdanowicz ran in a second-quarter touchdown from 40 yards out to make the score 14-0 before half.

Ashton Matthews ran hard between the tackles all game, averaging more than 10 yards per attempt. Joey Pierce put the game out of reach a 13-yard, third-quarter touchdown run. Defense came up big for Southwestern with Eddie Gibbon and Nate Johnson leading the way with 29 tackles. Bo Wendel and Aiden Kennedy each recovered a fumble.

The first round of the playoffs is set for 6 p.m., Friday at Southwestern against Panama.
