It appears an unused liquor store in the town of Ellicott will soon be torn down for a new coffee shop.

Recently the Ellicott Planning/Zoning Board of Appeals approved a Special Use Permit for a 7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee shop to be located at 1013 Fairmount Ave.

That’s the current location of the former Evans Discount Liquor & Wines. That building was vacated in 2023 after the owner built a larger liquor store at 985 Fairmount Ave., where the former Alfie’s Restaurant had been.

Anthony Pandolfe, project engineer, stated the existing building will be demolished. A prefabricated 510 square foot building will be brought in.

It will be a drive through only with two lines.

It will have a stacking driveway, double lanes with 24 total cars.

The new coffee shop will be leasing property from Raymour & Flannigan. Trevor Edkin, representing Raymour & Flannigan, stated at the planning/zoning board meeting that they are in support of the project.

According to Pandolfe, the landscaping will include locus, honey trees, junipers, evergreen trees and shrubs, and dogwood shrubs.

There will be no out buildings. The dumpster will be enclosed.

Jen Krack, a representative with 7 Brew, stated at the meeting the hours of operation are 5:30 a.m.to 11 p.m.

They may have to accommodate pedestrian access.

There will be no pick-up window – runners bring out drinks directly to customers. Texters take orders on iPads, walking from car to car. The door on the pickup side will be for runners to bring out drinks.

There will not be phone-in orders. Mobile orders are made on the app.

Krack said their demographics align with high school/college age students. They envision 8-10 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. will be their busiest times.

7 Brew only only sells drinks – coffees, lemonades, energy drinks, smoothies.

Box truck deliveries will be made during off peak times and staggered throughout the week.

The vote for the Special Use Permit was approved 4-0 with Dan Evans, who owns Evans Discount Liquor, voting to abstain, and one member absent.

A date for the new location’s opening was not provided by company officials.

This will be the second 7 Brew location in Chautauqua County.

In January a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place for 7 Brew in the town of Dunkirk near the I-90 exit/entrance.

That building took the place of a former oil change business which had been vacant for several years.

Starting at $3.50/week.
