“No Shenanigans” Neighborhood Watch group to be discussed by City Council

Following multiple conversations during City Council Public Safety Committee meetings about starting up Neighborhood Watch groups in the city again, an official group is looking to be formed and approval is coming before the council for the “No Shenanigans” group.

The group is set to cover the areas of Fulton Street, Strong Street, Lakeview Avenue, and Sumner Place. The group has submitted an official request to the Jamestown Police Department to form, and a resolution is set to be seen by city council during tonight’s work session for approval.

According to the agenda, in the past, the Jamestown Police Department supported a large coalition of Neighborhood Watch groups, and there is an effort to revitalize this initiative. The city will not need to contribute any additional proceeds to the project.

Also on the agenda for tonight’s city council is a presentation and update on Ramsay Agriculture’s project at 40 Winsor Street. According to the agenda, Ramsay Agriculture is actively stabilizing and renovating the old Crawford Furniture building at 40 Winsor Street into an indoor vertical farming operation with an on-site bio-digestion facility, creating energy to help sustain the project’s power needs. The project also involves buildings at 65 River Street, and 1023 East Second Street, which the presentation will further discuss.

The council’s work session begins at 7:30 p.m. in the police training room on the fourth floor of city hall. Council committees meet before the work session. The Housing Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. in the police training room with the Finance Committee at 7 p.m. in the mayor’s fourth floor conference room, the Public Safety Committee in the police training room at 7 p.m. and the Public Works Committee in the Development Department conference room at 7 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
