Lakewood Village Website Receives Facelift

LAKEWOOD – It has the same address, but a different look.

The Lakewood village website, lakewoodny.com, recently received a facelift. And village officials are pleased with the results.

The welcome page takes users, by drone footage, down Chautauqua Avenue to Richard O. Hartley Park at Chautauqua Lake.

“It is a phenomenal shot and will set the stage for the rest of the new website,” Holcomb said.

Trustee Ellen Barnes agrees.

“It is very appealing at first glance. It is an improvement over the old website, and appears to be more user friendly,” Barnes said.

On the welcome page, users will see five words: Home, Amenities, Information, Government, and Departments. Each word serves as a locator and has a drop-down menu associated with it. The welcome page also has links for the Lakewood-Busti Police Department, Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department, Lakewood Department of Public Works, the village’s code enforcement office, clerk/treasurer office, and a brief history of the village.

“It’s new and clean and easy to use. It’s a great job done largely by our village clerk’s office,” Holcomb added.

According to Deputy Clerk Krysten Sisson, the new website is more user-friendly, information is more easily accessible, and minutes of past meetings as well as meeting agendas are easier to find, and more organized.

Sisson and Trustee/Deputy Mayor Ben Troche edited the site; content was done by Jason Deering of Jamestown while Internet Marketing, jamestowninternetmarketing.com, designed and built the site, Sisson said.

“A village’s website is really the first and easiest connection residents have with their municipality,” Troche noted “Not only does it (the site) serve as a medium for information and services we have to offer, but it also markets our community to tourists, interested home-buyers and more. I think this website accomplishes that in a more user-friendly way while also making it much easier for the village to maintain, and more importantly update the website continuously. I encourage everyone to browse this site and provide feedback. It will always be an ongoing project which is a good thing.”
