Jamestown Resident Zachary Fellows Awarded Prestigious Radiation Therapy Scholarship

Jamestown resident Zachary Fellows has been awarded the Varian Radiation Therapy Advancement Scholarship by the ASRT Foundation for the 2015-16 academic year.

The $5,000 scholarship will help Fellows complete a radiation therapy educational program at SUNY Upstate Medical University. The scholarship was created in honor of Eileen McCullough and is made possible by a generous grant from Varian Medical Systems.

“With Varian’s help, we are happy to provide Zachary with financial support to get the tools he needs to further his education and career,” said Phelosha Collaros, ASRT Foundation’s director. “The scholarship is a testament to the commitment and collaborative spirit of the radiologic technology community.”

To be eligible, applicants must be radiation therapists, medical dosimetrists or medical imaging technologists enrolled in an accredited certificate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree program in radiation therapy.

Scholarship recipients submitted applications and were selected based on evidence of commitment, leadership, achievement and financial need. The foundation’s Scholarship Review Committee evaluated scholarship applications and provided recommendations to the board of trustees. Recipients were then approved by the board of trustees.

Starting at $3.50/week.
