Take Home
Distribution Sat. Feb. 5
FREDONIA — Town of Pomfret and village of Fredonia officials will be teaming up for another COVID-19 take-home test distribution Saturday starting at 9 a.m. It will be a drive-up test distribution for Fredonia and Pomfret residents, on Church and Days streets in front of the village and town halls. Those interested in attending are asked to bring photo ID as proof of residency.
NY Safe Boating Course Sat.
Feb. 19 8 a.m.
to 4 p.m.
A free New York safe boating course is being co-sponsored by the Falconer Public Library and the Falconer Fire Department. The course will be held at the Falconer Fire Department, 115 Davis St., Falconer, on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A pizza lunch will be provided. Those attending must be at least 10 years of age to take the course. Successful completion of the eight-hour course will lead to a boating safety certificate allowing operators to legally operate a motor boat or personal watercraft. Boaters who were born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, must have a boating safety certificate to operate a motor boat and all boaters must have a certificate and be at least 14 years of age to operate a personal watercraft. Pre-registration is required. Call the library at 716-665-3504 to register. Seating is limited. The deadline to register is Feb. 15.

Historical Society Guest Speaker Series Continues Feb. 9
The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series continues Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, as Christine Wilson is welcomed to discuss the early history of Midway State Park. Her focus will be on the days of steamboats and trains serving the Lake Chautauqua area. The free event is open to the public and will be held at the Bemus Point Village Hall adjacent to the fire hall on Alburtus Avenue in Bemus Point beginning at 7 p.m. Masks will be required for all in attendance. For more information contact Bob Terreberry at 716-386-2532. The Bemus Point Historical Society Museum will be open for one half hour prior to the event.
Kennedy Free Library Hosting First Snow Fort Contest Feb. 17
KENNEDY — The Kennedy Free Library is hosting the town of Poland’s first ever snow fort contest. Register anytime until Feb. 17. Judging will take place Feb. 18 and the winners will be announced Feb. 19. Prizes will be awarded; entry is $3 per family for residents and $5 for non-residents of the town of Poland.
