Trojans Pick Up Softball Win
Another strong outing in the circle propelled Southwestern to a 9-4 nonleague softball victory over Maple Grove on Wednesday.
Arianna Silakowski worked the first five innings, struck out seven and scattered six hits before being relieved by Maddie Burnett, who surrendered one hit and fanned five in two innings.
Silakowski added a two hits and Burnett collected a two-run double in an offensive attack that had a number of other contributors. Ashlynn Swan smacked three hits and drove in a run; and Alexis Beckerink and Maddie Cresanti (double, three RBIs) both had two hits. The Trojans are now 1-1.
For Maple Grove, Dani Trim had two hits and pitcher Lydia Darr struck out nine.
PANTHERS DOWN HORNETS
GOWANDA — The Gowanda softball team knocked off Forestville 6-1 in Division 1 East action.
Addison Kota shined in the circle for seven innings, giving up just one hit and striking out 10 for the Panthers.
Kailyn Farner led Gowanda with three hits, while Jada Geiger, Ella Luther and CC John each had two hits.
