Wolfpack Shuts Out Brocton, Red Dragons Blank Chautauqua Lake In D2
BROCTON — Austin White allowed three hits and struck out four as Clymer/Sherman/Panama shut out Brocton 12-0 to clinch a tie with Maple Grove for the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 title Friday.
Bryce Hinsdale had two singles while White, Gabe Roth, Trent Burchanowski, Kurtis Olson, Tate Catanese and Ian Dunnewold each had one for the Wolfpack (14-1, 13-1).
Clymer/Sherman/Panama scored five times in the first inning and five times in the second to take a 10-0 lead.
Aiden Gatto, Damien Franklin and Jeremy Wesiner each had a hit for the Bulldogs (4-10, 4-10).
VAILLANCOURT LEADS MG
BEMUS POINT — Jake Vaillancourt stood out on the mound and at the plate as Maple Grove beat Chautauqua Lake 10-0 in five innings to lock up a share of the league title.
Vaillancourt allowed three hits, struck out five and walked one while also going 2 for 3 with a triple for the Red Dragons (13-1, 13-1).
Maple Grove scored four runs in the first inning, keyed by Colin McPherson’s two-run double. The hosts later added five more runs in the fifth. McPherson finished 2 for 3.
Nate Henry had two hits and Tate Olson singled for the Thunderbirds (5-9, 5-9). Kalen Miller struck out four on the mound.
FREWSBURG JUMPS ON COUGARS
SINCLAIRVILLE — Jonah SanAngelo went 3 for 4 as Frewsburg beat Cassadaga Valley 12-2 in five innings of Division 2 play.
Mason Eckman struck out four on the mound while Garrett Brink singled and doubled for the Bears (8-9, 8-6), who jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning.
Calvin Hilliker had a pair of hits and Braden LeBaron struck out five for the Cougars (3-12, 3-11).
MARSH HURLS 4-HITTER
ELLICOTTVILLE — Lucas Marsh threw a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts as Ellicottville beat Randolph 6-1 in Division 3 play.
The Eagles (10-9, 7-7) only had four hits of their own, but score five runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good. Braylon Wyatt hit a two-run double and Owen Chudy hit an RBI single during the frame.
Kevin Herington singled and scored an unearned run for the Cardinals (1-14, 0-14) in the first inning. Luke Pagett, Dillon Schrader and Kyle Senn also singled for Randolph.
Logan Grinols doubled and scored a run while Hunter Smith also singled and score a run.
Schrader struck out five in five innings on the mound for the Cardinals.
SAKPAL HAS BIG HIT
SILVER CREEK –Kam Sakpal’s two-run double during a four-run third inning broke open Silver Creek/Forestville’s 10-0 five-inning Division 3 win over Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
Aiden Piccolo threw all six innings, striking out 10 and walking three in a three-hitter for the Black Knights (12-5, 10-4).
Cade Neubauer went 2 for 3 with a two-run single in the first and an RBI single in the fifth. Caleb Fiegl also had two singles for the hosts.
Brayden Young had two singles and Nathan Wolfe had a single for the Timberwolves (3-12, 3-11).
