Gowanda Opens Baseball Season, Downs Eden 8-3
GOWANDA — The Gowanda baseball team opened its season in style Thursday afternoon.
Four pitchers combined on a four-hitter and the Panthers scored all the runs they would need in the second inning to propel them to an 8-3 nonleague victory over Eden.
John Ondus, winning pitcher Bryan Zynda, Alex Pachucinski and John Smuda shared time on the mound. Ondus also had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Also contribuing offensively were Blake Herman (two-run triple), Tyler Smith (RBI single), Pachunsinski (RBI single) and Cole Herman (RBI single).
Gowanda (1-0) will be back in action Saturday when it entertains Akron at 1 p.m.
