Thunderbirds Top Panthers

PANAMA — Chautauqua Lake defeated Panama in four sets, 25-10, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15 for a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West victory on Thursday.

The Thunderbirds were led by Lily Woodis with eight kills, three assists, three blocks, and two aces; Ava Olson with seven kills, nine assists, one block, one ace and seven digs; Jessica Wiemer with five kills and four blocks; Jenna Waters with three kills and 21 digs; Jenna Harle with one kill, six digs and five aces.

The Panthers were led by Sarah Harvey with seven kills, four blocks and 14 digs; Kylie Morgan with four kills, two blocks and six digs; Mandy Brink with one kill, six assists, one block, 16 digs and two aces; Corinne Brink with 11 digs; and Mackenzie Greene with seven assists and five digs.

The Thunderbirds improved to 14-0 overall and in league play while Panama dropped to 12-6 overall and 12-4 in league.

JHS IMPROVES TO 9-5

Jamestown improved to 9-5 on the season following a 25-12, 26-24, 25-8 victory over Dunkirk.

The Red Raiders were led by Nicole Carlson with eight aces and 10 digs. Rylie Loomis had 11 kills, four aces and four digs; Cadance Main collected eight kills and eight digs; and Hannah Grey contributed 19 assists.

Dunkirk fell to 0-14.

Jamestown also won the junior varsity match.

RED DRAGONS PREVAIL

SINCLAIRVILLE — Maple Grove won its 13th match in 18 outings overall, downing Cassadaga Valley, 25-13, 26-24, 28-26.

Eliza Dawes collected seven kills and three aces for the Red Dragons (11-3 in league); Madi Price had seven kills and three blocks; and Erin Mansfield added 27 assists, two kills, two blocks and two aces.

The Cougars (11-7, 7-7) were paced by Jordan Austin with six kills, six digs, two blocks and two aces; Allison Wakelee with 19 assists; and Shyanne Carlstrom with six kills and four digs.

TROJANS WIN

Southwestern defeated Allegany-Limestone in four sets, 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17 for a Division 1 West victory.

The Trojans were led by Lauren Cotter with two blocks, 14 kills and five digs; Anna Rauh with one block, nine kills and four digs; Katie Low with three blocks and four kills and Arrington Restivo with one ace, three blocks, 22 assists and five digs.

With the victory Southwestern improved to 9-5 in league and 12-6 overall.

FALCONER SWEEPS FREDONIA

FALCONER — Falconer swept Fredonia in three sets, 25-10, 25-16, 25-22 for a Division 1 West victory.

The Golden Falcons were led by Emily Melquist with 11 kills and 15 digs; Ava Fenton with 18 assists and three digs; Amaya McCarthy with nine aces, three kills, five digs and two blocks; and Taylor Ingrao with three aces.

The Hillbillies were led by Jordan Lucas with three aces; Erin Schrantz with four kills and two aces; and Sarah Davis with 13 digs and one ace.

Falconer improved to 9-5 in league and 12-6 overall while Fredonia dropped to 2-12 in league and 2-14 overall.
