Gathering To Remember Sulphur Springs Speedway

At right, Nellie Yates is pictured holding a trophy she won in a powder puff race at Sulphur Springs Speedway in Findley Lake in 1957. Yates attended the Sulphur Springs Speedway reunion held at the Mina Historical Society, sponsored by the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Sulphur Springs Speedway was built by Ernie Stetson and was in operation from 1956 to 1959. Among the former racers who attended the reunion were Tom Dill, Jim Scott, Ken See, Merle Swift, Ken Pound and Lee Pound. Margaret Beers, daughter of Stetson, led a tour of the site of the former race track.

Starting at $3.50/week.
