Ivan William Heslink

Ivan William Heslink of Clymer, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at Corry Manor in Corry, Pa. Born Feb. 4, 1924, in Clymer to William G and Emma Beckerink Heslink. He was 95 years, eight months and 15 days old.

Ivan was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris Kolstee Heslink, whom he married Oct. 28, 1943, and who died Dec. 12, 2003; by his eldest son, Kenton, who died in February, 2019; and by an infant great-grandson, Carter in 2001.

Ivan is survived by Kent’s widow, Diane, and their children including son, Steven and his wife, Rhonda and their family – Nickolas and his wife, Ann and their children Logan, Hailey, and Marissa; Amanda; Samantha and her husband, Corey Clark and their daughter, Jayden; and Thomas and his wife, Jennifer; son Stacey and his wife, Louann and their daughters, Rebecca and Ericka and son, Christopher and his children, Tyler, Maddison, and Olivia. Ivan is also survived by his son Dennis and wife, Janet and their children: Kristen Heslink-Purcell and husband ,Alan Purcell and their children, William and Anne Purcell; and Nathan and his wife, Christina and their daughters, Cordelia and Penelope. Ivan’s son, Dr. Paul and his wife, Linda and their sons: Marc, Matthew, Jonathan and wife, Megan and their children, Abigail, Mattison and Hunter; Joshua and his wife, Elaine and their children, Erik, Julia, and Evan; and Adam and Andrew also survive him.

Ivan was a graduate of Clymer Central School. He was a dairy farmer on Clymer Hill and a mechanic, school bus driver and finally retired as transportation supervisor for the Clymer Central School district. In retirement, he worked in the emergency department at WCA Hospital.

A lifelong active member of Clymer Hill Reformed Church, he had served there in many roles: deacon, elder, choir director, teacher of the adult Sunday school class and custodian. Ivan had been a 42 year member of the Clymer Volunteer Fire Company, where he was one of the first EMTs in the county and was instrumental in the establishment of Clymer’s ambulance service in 1964. He went on to become an EMT III and was active in that capacity until he was 80 years old. In addition, he served on the Chautauqua County EMS Council.

Visitation hours will be Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4-7p.m., at the Clymer United Methodist Church, 573 Clymer-Sherman Road, Clymer NY, where funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Michael Beckerink, will be held on Monday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m.
