Back With A Twist

Rotary Club Of Jamestown Auction Returns After Hiatus

3 Bedroom/4 bath week in Presidential Villa WITH GOLF at Vidanta, Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.

The Rotary Club of Jamestown has brought back its auction of years gone by – but with a new twist.

Three longtime members, all past presidents of the organization, have taken up the reins to give the Rotary Auction fundraiser new life.

The Rotary Club Treasure Trove Auction is scheduled to physically begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Moon Brook Country Club, originally founded by the Rotary Club in 1919. Mike Roberts, Vince Horrigan and Tim Edborg are leading the event, which has already sold all of its tickets.

Diamond sponsors are UBS Financial Services, Northwest Bank, and Weber Knapp. Platinum sponsors are Allied Alarm Services Inc., Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, UPMC Chautauqua, TJ’s Plumbing & Heating and Ahlstrom-Schaeffer Electric Corporation. Gold sponsors include Slone Melhuish Insurance, Artone LLC; and Hope’s Windows, Inc. Silver sponsors are National Fuel; Barb and Vince Horrigan, Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant, The Resource Center, Lisa and Andy Goodell, Truck-Lite, and ServPro of Jamestown-Olean.

While tickets are sold out, those without tickets can still participate by registering to bid online following all pertinent information listed at JNYrotary.afrogs.org. The online bidding will begin May 1 and continue until May 18 at noon. Before the online bidding ends at noon, the bidder should enter an absentee bid, that is the highest amount of money the bidder is willing to pay for an item should someone bid higher during the live auction.

When the physical auction at Moon Brook begins at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Auctioneers Chuck and Ben Ludwig, live bids will start at the last amount entered by online participants. When the bidding is over, the absentee bids will be opened, and the item will go to the highest bidder.

There are 30 items that will go up for bid at the live auction. They include: a Taylor Swift signed guitar, a signed Buffalo Bills Josh Allen jersey, a cocktail cruise and flaming steak dinner, a RICOH color copying system, an Old Rip (Pappy) Van Winkle 10 year bottle of bourbon, a three-night stay for four people in a two bedroom, two bathroom New York City apartment near Columbus Circle and tickets for a Yankees/Cleveland game Aug. 20-22 in the Legends box at Yankee Stadium; and a three bedroom, four bathroom Presidential Villa and golf package at Vidanta’s Grand Luxxe in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for January 24-31, 2025. All items will be listed at JNYrotary.afrogs.org.

Other items include Buffalo Sabres and St. Bonaventure basketball tickets, a hot air balloon ride, a Holiday Valley golf package, a Batavia Downs play and stay package, several delicious gift certificates including one pizza a month from Pace’s Pizzeria and several Premier bottles of bourbon and tequila.

There are also many silent auction items that are available for pre-bidding as well. Pre-bids are bids are placed online before the in-person auction begins. At the close of online bidding at 12 noon May 18 the highest bidders for each item will be identified on the bid sheets at the gala. Bidding will then continue by event attendees and when bidding is stopped, if the pre-bid remains the highest or the absentee bidder has entered the highest absentee bid and is not in attendance at the gala, they will be contacted by the event organizer to complete payment and pick up the item.
