FREWSBURG — There does not appear to be anything suspicious regarding Monday’s fatal fire in Frewsburg, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.

Members of the Fire Investigation Team with the Sheriff’s Office have concluded their look into the blaze at 83 W. Main St. The fire was reported around 7:30 a.m. Monday, and brought firefighters from several departments to the hamlet.

A body was found inside the property, home to five apartments of which four were occupied.

In a news release Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said its fire investigators — with assistance from state officials — had finished their review of the residence.

“At this point, investigators have been unable to determine the exact cause of the fire due to the amount of damage the building sustained,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “Due to (the) investigation continuing with the medical examiner’s office, the name of the victim has not yet been released. There does not appear to be anything suspicious about this incident.”
